Yeah. It's probably heading for a second civil war. And I know what side I'll be on.

I'm from Bolton and today I was in the town centre to meet my Burmese friend of seven years Santhien Tin. We are work colleagues and he works hard for a living. He is a good immigrant - he came to this country from the former British colony because he is part of the Karen tribe which has been persecuted by the Burmese government for being Christian.

His bus was late in arriving at the bus station to meet me because several streets were cordoned off because protesters and Islamists gathered to confront each other on Victoria Square. I tell you what: it was scary. It's one thing seeing the riots on YouTube but it's scary when you see these two groups opposing each other like armies a few hundred yards away.

He told me at the bus station as armed guards stood outside the entrance/exit that people coming to this country should respect this country's values and traditions and should work and not claim benefits. He also said that the Muslims are out to take over the country and the world.

It was a bit jittery when I was waiting for my friend in the bus station as a riot threatened to break out just down the road with armed guards stood outside. Everybody seemed to panic when a guy shouted but it turned out he is disabled. An Alsatian barked and everybody jumped. It was pretty scary.
