Empathy…the bulk of Canada lives along the American border for all of intents & purposes…as close to the equator as we can.The UK may be "crowded" in the sense that it has 277 people per square kilometre officially: However, the UK's 68 million people live on just 9% of its land. 81% of the UK is empty of people: Countryside and wilderness.
So, contrary to the belief of Canadians, with a smaller population and a much bigger landmass, Britain is much like Canada is: just vast swathes of countryside and wilderness with no people.

In my lifetime, I will probably visit Nunavat as many times as you will, and perhaps less.Well that's because almost nobody wants to live in the north of Canada: It's freezing bloody cold and depressing.
As a Brit it boggles my mind that Nunavut is 9 times bigger than my country yet has a population of 39,000, almost the same as that of Salisbury. To you it may seem normal but to a Brit it's as weird and mystifying as a black hole.
