And the people will no doubt consider it in the next election. And there will undoubtedly be tons of lawsuits.Bottom line will be that the EMA will pass.
NDP will have enough votes against so save face but will give the Libs enough votes for it to pass. Perhaps even some Cons will vote for it.
Who knows about the Bloc, they have been absolutely quiet throughout.
Yeah well, Canadians have a short memory. They had lots of crap on Justin Trudeau in the last 3 elections yet he still won.And the people will no doubt consider it in the next election. And there will undoubtedly be tons of lawsuits.
And every swingin' dick on the internet'll be throwing a tantrum one way or 'tother.
This interesting thing will be the timeframe.Bottom line will be that the EMA will pass.

Same with his Dad, seems he was hated all over but won enough to stay in power for 15 1/2 years.
I may be incorrect but, this is my take on the EMA.This interesting thing will be the timeframe.
In theory, the EMA is subject to a debate & vote in Parliament, etc….& in all honesty I don’t know if that’s happening today or tomorrow or has already happened on the weekend.
NDP will spot Liberals the votes needed to bypass the guessing as to the outcome of the vote regardless of any debate, & the EMA expires in 30 days….unless….it’s rolled over for another 30 days, or maybe another 30 days after that, etc….so how long will these limited powers carry on?
Ottawa has been flushed. How many “too secret to disclose, but too evil to ignore, so we have to renew, but we can’t explain why” times consecutively will the EMA be renewed?
It's the hair. Well, with Boy Justin anyhow. Who knows what it was with Dad?Yeah well, Canadians have a short memory. They had lots of crap on Justin Trudeau in the last 3 elections yet he still won.

I may not have been clear. The current vote is suppose to be on its use in this current situation, with its max 30 term for its expiration.I may be incorrect but, this is my take on the EMA.
The EMA is already in effect as of 1985. I think it replaced the War Measures Act.
What is being debated is amendments to modernize it and allow government to use it in this situation.
With the criticism the implementation of the EA at this point the Liberals really need to be sure to cancel it as soon as possible. But...something that will have a huge bearing on that is where the protests go from here. If the civil and economic disruption continue to the degree they reached in the last two weeks then the EA may have to remain.I may not have been clear. The current vote is suppose to be on its use in this current situation, with its max 30 term for its expiration.
My question (speculation) is, “Will it be allowed to expire in 30 days (?) or will a Liberal backed by NDP coalition renew it repeatedly for consecutive 30 day terms over undisclosed but imminent threats” making this current use of the time limited EMA be in place for months to come?
I think it is amendment that will stay in the Act and be usable by present and future governments, as the War Measures Act was. It can be invoked for reasons deemed necessary (?)I may not have been clear. The current vote is suppose to be on its use in this current situation, with its max 30 term for its expiration.

It’s just been used the four times. Trudeau’s 1 & 2, and World Wars 1 & 2, from what I understand. Under its current name since it’s revamp in the ‘80’s this is the first time it’s been used.I think it is amendment that will stay in the Act and be usable by present and future governments, as the War Measures Act was. The War Measures Act was replaced by the Emergency Measures Act in 1985 (I think). Not sure if it has been invoked for national crises like floods and fires.
