It ain't doomed and it ain't dying anytime soon. Since there is no viable replacement on the horizon to kill the petroleum industry overnight would destroy the world economy. Which would probably fix the real problem, which is too many people on the planet.
Earth can accommodate many billions more if needs must.

I believe 'the real problem' is more complex; is several problems really, including:

- Too many people
- Too much individual consumption of resources
- Resultant toxic by-product
- And above all, near-universal human stupidity

Climate change may solve all - unless some humans survive.

If you believe that climate change is happening with potentially disastrous consequences, what type and what level of lifestyle change do you think would be needed to ward off the dangers? Would you (will you) be willing to adopt any of those changes?

Climate has always changed and since Human appearance we have adapted, what makes you think this time we won't be able to adapt?

Is Bono relevant to today's teens? If he were would he need to fund Greta's journey?
YUP.
As U2 paid tribute to Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg in Auckland, their two huge aircraft sat nearby fuelled up at the airport.
The band itself travels in a VIP Boeing 757 that's owned by corporate travel charter company Jet Magic. It can carry as many as 50 passengers and has bedrooms with ensuites onboard.

This is relevant to Aussies who are of fire, regardless of age.
......
"A seven-day state of emergency has been declared in New South Wales, where strong winds, high temperatures and low humidity have prompted the Rural Fire Service to issue a "catastrophic" fire warning for the greater Sydney region.
It's the worst threat level ever issued for Sydney under the current system, which was introduced in 2009. The city is home to around 4.6 million people, but the greatest fire risk lies in rural areas outside the city center. They include the greater Hunter area, Illawarra, and Shoalhaven, which are also facing "catastrophic" fire threats."

Climate crisis comes front and center
In recent years, bushfires have been occurring more frequently in Australia, starting earlier in the season and spreading with even greater intensity. Experts say the cause is the climate crisis.
The blazes that are currently engulfing the country's east have focused attention on warnings issued by former senior fire officials earlier this year. They have been calling on the government to do more to combat the effects of climate change.
Greg Mullins, the former Commissioner of New South Wales' Fire and Rescue Department, has been among the most vocal critics. He and 22 other former high-ranking emergency service officials sent letters to Prime Minister Scott Morrison in April and September warning of the impact of the climate crisis on Australia and the possibility of "unprecedented fire danger," Australian media reported.

Not good.

You mean like the black kids who walked out of school against their parents' and teachers' wishes and orders to fight Jim Crow?

No

But let's assume Bono is funding her journey. What's your objection? Bono spending his money as he pleases, or Thunberg speaking her mind?

I agree

That said, the follow-up question might be why would Bono work so hard to hide that info (if he was in fact taking these actions)?.... This takes us directly to the group/individual that is desperately working so hard to keep their identity in the shadows and put all of the risk and potential downside on Thunberg.

Greta would be extremely supportive cause, you know, getting the message out an all.

Ya see, some people are simply too important to be expected to be inconvenienced with her solutions.

PS - Bono is highly accomplished at throwing tantrums

What does this say about our culture and the priorities of people who pay out their millions to venerate & support these 'celebrities'?
