What is driving the e bike revolution?

Baby boomers.

People who have tons of money and would love to ride a bike but they just don't have the physical capacity anymore.

E bikes make cycling accessible to everyone.

Oh hemerHOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you get into the supply of LSD that MHz has been hoarding????????????????????????

You ARE WAY OUT THERE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a bunch of Harleys - you know- those GAS POWERED BIKES...................................

on my street - ALL OWNED by guys OVER 60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the one guy can barely walk now..............................

thanks to his early football career and knee damage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And there is ONE LONE electric toy bike on the street - JUST PURCHASED..............................................

by a 16 year old kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you get any more clueless you will not be able..................

Most cars can be charged at home from a standard 120-volt outlet, but a full charge can take from 12 to 16 hours.
That can be reduced as better chargers and batteries are made available. 90% charge in a few hours and 100% on 6 hours. Charge at wotk or at the mall or wherever. If you can charge a phone without plugging it in you can do the same with a car,

‘They Don’t Need Us Anymore’: Auto Workers Fear Electric Unrest
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/don-t-us-anymore-auto-090000599.html

(Bloomberg) -- The milkman went missing thanks to the rise of refrigerators. Switchboard operators were done in by the dawn of direct dialing. And in the car industry, auto workers are deathly afraid the engine assembler will give way to battery builders.

Dread over the prospect that plug-in cars -- which have fewer parts and require less labor to build -- will doom auto jobs helped spark the first United Auto Workers strike against General Motors Co. in over a decade. Ford Motor Co. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, which are rolling their own battery-powered models to market in the coming years, could face a similar fate if they’re unable to quell the UAW’s concerns that widespread adoption of EVs endangers the employment of 35,000 union members.

“There’s a potential for our jobs to be gone -- they don’t need us anymore,” said Tim Walbolt, president of the UAW local representing workers at a Fiat Chrysler transmission components plant near Toledo, Ohio. “It scares us.”

For all the buzz generated by Tesla Inc., the EV era is still in its infancy, with zero-emission autos having reached just 2% of global production. GM has extended the UAW an offer to get in on the ground floor, pitching a new battery plant staffed by dues-paying union members in an Ohio town jarred by job loss. But the overture came with a catch: GM wants to pay the workers less, and the facility is unlikely to need as many staff as an engine or transmission factory would.

A recent study of electric-vehicle production in Europe by consultant AlixPartners found that it took 40% fewer hours to assemble an electric motor and battery than a traditional internal-combustion engine and transmission.

“It’s a bad news story from a labor perspective,” said Mark Wakefield, the head of AlixPartners’s automotive practice. “You would just fundamentally need less people.”

Perversely, GM also arguably has uncertainty on its side at the bargaining table. It’s going to want concessions to cushion itself against the risk that consumer adoption of electric autos remains slow. The carmaker isn’t fully utilizing the factory that builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV north of Detroit, and tepid demand for the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt put the future of the factory that assembles it in nearby Hamtramck in doubt.

Collision Course

The collision with carmakers over electrification is one the UAW saw coming.

“Electric, to me, is where the real risk is to our membership,” Jennifer Kelly, the union’s research director, said during a collective-bargaining conference in Detroit earlier this year.

It’s almost certain to carry over from the UAW’s talks with GM to negotiations with Detroit’s other automakers. Ford has estimated electric cars will require 30% fewer hours of labor per vehicle and 50% less factory floor space.

“Rationalization of the powertrain portfolio is certainly a huge opportunity for all of us as we start this transition,” Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s automotive president, told investors on an earnings call in April.

Even Fiat Chrysler, a laggard with regard to electrification, has stoked fear at union halls linked to internal-combustion components plants, where rumors are flying that the company plans to outsource work to lower-paying suppliers.

“We cannot help but feel like the left behind stepchildren of the UAW,” Mike Booth, the president of the union’s local in Marysville, Michigan, wrote in a letter to the labor group’s Chrysler council last month. He and other UAW leaders fear that German mega-supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG, which took over operation of a Chrysler axle plant in 2008, will take work away from the automaker’s machining facility near Toledo and a transmission and castings complex in Kokomo, Indiana.

A Fiat Chrysler spokeswoman categorically denied that another company is seeking to take work from the Toledo or Kokomo operations and called them critical to the automaker’s business. ZF will continue to work with the UAW in Marysville, and an arrangement in which Fiat Chrysler licenses technology from the supplier in Kokomo may be creating some confusion, a spokesman said. He declined to comment on Toledo.

‘Shrinking Bubble’

In August, GM shut down a transmission plant outside Detroit, affecting more than 260 workers as part of a larger restructuring. That may foreshadow other closures as EV production ramps up. The supply chain is where the job risk is greatest, especially for workers employed making engines, transmissions and sub-components that aren’t needed in EVs.

Here is an article exposing the failure of LIE-beral policy!! With some comments of my own in brackets):

The B.C. carbon tax shows us why a national one is a bad idea

By Kris Sims, B.C. Director of Cdn Taxpayers Federartion.

Special to Postmedia Network

Published: September 27, 2019, Updated: September 27, 2019 6:42 PM EDT

Politicians are trying to sell a national carbon tax to Canadians this election, but we shouldn’t buy it.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pointing to B.C. as a template for a national carbon tax. But be warned: the B.C. carbon tax is not reducing greenhouse gas emissions and it’s filling up government coffers with taxpayers’ money. It’s a tax grab that is not helping the environment.

(IN other news- the number of cars registered in B.C. is going steadily UP!! This fact demonstrates the economic pressures of our gig economy with its myriad McJobs that all offer erratic schedules and frequent call ins at short notice!! Meaning that electric TOY cars with their LENGTHY refueling time will NOT WORK for our modern schedules!!!!!!!!!)

(LIE-berals are IGNORING the reality that a worker who cannot show up SWIFTLY when called in - because public transit is SLOW - will be replaced - by another worker with a CAR who CAN travel MORE SWIFTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

B.C.’s emissions have gone up 2.4% over the last three years and have increased in five of the last seven years, according to the B.C. government’s own data released this month. In 2017 — the most recent data year — GHG emissions are listed at 64.4 million tonnes, up from 63.6 million tonnes in 2016.

(LIE-berals tell us that driving is a privilege - but it is evolving into an economic necessity for many Cdns due to all the scheduling conflicts with work, with day care and with schooling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(In addition - LIE-berals demand we buy their electric TOY cars - and we are ORDERED NOT to ask questions about the long term service life of the hugely costly Lithium battery - whose range is cut in HALF by the time it is ten years old- and the AVERAGE AGE of a Cdn car is ELEVEN YEARS - signalling a VERY UNSATISFACTORY service life for electric TOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(Nor do LIE-berals like it when we discuss the fact that even moderately cold Cdn weather greatly reduces the already UNSATISFACTORY range of electric TOYS!! With the added headache that recharging the electric TOYS is a time consuming biz- UNLESS you have access to specialized equipment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(The family with a gas car can refuel in 5 minutes- but the electric TOY takes 8 to 16 HOURS to recharge on regular 120 volt house current!! Cumbersome refueling and range issues LIMITS electric TOY use and flexibility on commuter trips - something Cdn workers generally cannot afford !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Politicians tell us that we are paying the carbon tax because it will reduce emissions but the government’s own records show that’s not happening. What is the point of paying an ever increasing carbon tax when it doesn’t work?

(Even MORE ABSURD is the LIE-beral assertion that we will get MORE IN REBATES than we paid into the carbon tax SCAM!! LIE-berals ARE PRETENDING they can create FREE MONEY out of thin air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(So why charge the carbon tax SCAM at all if all the money is being rebated?? UNLESS of course the LIE-beral assurance of free money IS A STRETCH GOAL and the FIX IS IN!! We need only think of Wynne-bag LIE-berals offering us a 15 percent reduction in auto insurance- that came with a FIFTY PERCENT REDUCTION in benefits for people injured in crashes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(Or we could discuss the Wynne-bag LIE-beral drug plan that was only half funded and has resulted in nice profits for insurance companies as they denied drug benefits to sick customers - and sent them to seek aid from govt- which also DENIED the aid - because the ill people HAD INSURANCE - leaving sick people out in the cold with NOTHING from either source!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

In 2018, the provincial government took in $1.7 billion from B.C. taxpayers through the carbon tax, and it’s planning on taking $2.2 billion from taxpayers by the year 2021, when the carbon tax is jacked up to $50 per tonne.

Politicians also told us that gasoline and diesel vehicle use would drop because of the carbon tax, however the government data again shows that’s not true.

Emissions from gasoline powered cars are up 6.2%, pickup truck emissions are up 18.7%, and heavy duty gasoline truck emissions are up 10.4% over the last three years. When it comes to diesel use, there was a large 47.8% jump in emissions from light-duty diesel pickup trucks over the past three years.

Let’s look at how much this carbon tax costs us for everyday life.

At the pumps, the carbon tax costs B.C. drivers about $7 extra to fill their minivans, $11 extra for their pickup trucks, and $19 extra for their diesel super duty pickups.

If a commuter family has a sedan and a pick up truck and fills up once a week, they pay more than $900 extra per year just to get to work and take the kids around.

For a tractor trailer truck – the ones that deliver groceries to grocery stores — filling just one of those diesel tanks costs an extra $48 in carbon taxes. This adds to the cost of everything.

(WE should understand that the carbon tax SCAM is a tax GRAB ON EVERY- THING!! When delivery costs go up - so do retail prices - AND SO DO GOVT SALES TAXES on the retail items!! LIE-berals have created new tax grabs from MULTIPLE SOURCES AND economic levels as a result of higher sales taxes that are being DRIVEN by the carbon SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

When the carbon tax was first foisted upon British Columbians in 2008, we were told that the tax would reduce greenhouse gas emissions, stop at $30 per tonne, and it would be “revenue neutral” because other tax cuts would offset the carbon tax.

Today, none of claims are true. The carbon tax has been hiked up to $40 per tonne. Politicians have dropped the malarkey moniker of “revenue neutral” altogether and the government is just keeping the extra revenue instead of even pretending to offset the carbon tax with other tax cuts. On top of it all, GHG emissions are going up, not down.

(The LIE-beral carbon SCAM is a record breaking gravy grab that only cleans cash from wallets and leaves the dirt in the air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The Sierra Club of Canada calls B.C.’s emissions approach a “failure” and it says politicians have been full of “noble rhetoric.”

(Ah - “noble rhetoric” - this is LIE-beral speak meaning full of SH+T!!!!!!!!!!!!)

As Canadians consider carbon taxes, they need to look at the experience in B.C. where this all started. It only makes people here poorer while emissions continue to rise. Don’t fall for it.

(Our LIE-berals modeled their carbon tax SCAM on the European model which as been in place now for over 15 years and it is a PROVEN FAILURE!! The European tax SCAM is riven with corruption, false reporting of emissions, stock market fakery as phoney carbon credits are sold for real money and general fraud and collusion as companies seek ways to get around the govt laws that are proven job killers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(The Volkswagen Diesel emissions scandal is a direct result of the MASSIVE CONFLICT between the needs of buyers and the selfish wishes of LIE-berals!!!!)

(Spain and Germany are the two countries that were most excited about LIE-beal style green energy and both countries have now REDUCED their commitment to the mouldy green because for every green job created - there are 2.5 old style jobs KILLED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(LIE-beral Green policy is both costly and inefficient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(LIE-berals know this which is why they keep talking about helping oil workers and others “transition” to a greener economy!! Too bad too many Cdn workers have heard this sort of LIE-beral CRAP BEFORE!! In 2008, Ontari-owe LIE-beral premier Dalton McGinty set up a $100 million dollar fund to “retrain” laid off auto workers and then attached SO MANY STRINGS to that aid that only 5 percent of the aid was ever used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(LIE-berals are now being DAMNED - and disbelieved- BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN DISMAL AND DECEITFUL RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

What aspects of it were you thinking of?

Well.........................................

A LOT OF US are worried about the COST of LIE-beral electric TOY cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And lot of us are worried about the DRASTIC REDUCTION IN RANGE................................................

suffered by LIE-beral electric TOY cars in even moderately cold weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a lot of us are worried about the fact that a Lithium battery ROTS OUT.................................

and becomes pretty much USELESS once it is ten years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a lot of us are worroed about the service life................

of LIE-beral electric TOYS- in view of the FACT that the

averge gas car on the road is ELEVEN YEARS OLD.............

which makes electric TOYS that are near DEAD AT TEN

YEARS - LOK LIKE A BAD BARGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a lot of us are worried by the RISK OF FIRE...................................

that a rusted or cracked Lithium battery case represents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After all we do KNOW that mistakes and car accidents DO HAPPEN from time to time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And some of us are worried that LIE-berals have plans to PRICE GOUGE US..................................

on the cost of electricity SO RELENTLESSLY.........................................

that LIE-beral electricity suppliers will make the average oil company CEO...........................................

look like a soft hearted Philanthropist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a lot of us are generally worried that OUR NEEDS...................................

are so much AT ODDS with LIE-beral wishes and GREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides, shifting the planet's economic power centres from the various oil patches around the globe to a few Rare Earth mines in China might not be a sensible move, at this time.

Now, if a big Rare Earth deposit is happened upon somewhere in Canada .... we're Uber alles!

I would say the wisest solution is to make use of all available resources, especially ones that provide revenue.

Where and if there's a benefit (but why would you pose a question to a "wee brain"?)
Whether there is a "benefit" or not is purely subjective.

If you don't believe in the dangers of elevated atmospheric carbon or the environmental degradation of strip mining whole mountain ranges, it's a benefit.

If you think that those things are wrong, you will see them as crimes.

1. Pretty well ALL benefits are subjective (otherwise there'd be no need for a dozen political parties)
2. Pretty much every activity has some downside to it and some benefit.
3. I doubt it - drinking too much pop can be seen as wrong but that doesn't make it a crime!
Perhaps there's a philosophy course offered somewhere near you which might enhance your thought process. :)

A LOT OF US are worried . . .
Are you at all worried that you refer to yourself in the plural. I love it as that is what a mentally ill person does.
https://counsellingresource.com/features/2016/02/01/illeism-and-narcissism/
Illeism and Narcissism

Have you ever heard someone talk about themselves in the third person? That’s something called illeism, and while it’s probably a fair bet that not too many are familiar with this term, most of us have probably heard someone talk this way at one time or another. But what do you make of a person who references herself in this unusual manner? Is illeism a sure sign of narcissism? Lately, according to many political blogs, some folks seem to think so. But the truth is more complicated than that. The fact is, folks talk about themselves in this manner for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, it can indeed be reflective of an inflated ego. But much of the time, it indicates something else entirely. So how can you tell what’s really going on with someone who references themselves in the third person? Fortunately, there are other, more reliable signs you might be dealing with a narcissist, and given how prevalent narcissists are these days and how problematic they can be in relationships, it’s a good idea to know those signs as well.
Illeism is most often employed as a literary device, and writers use it for a variety of purposes. Professionals crafting evaluative reports, for example, will often refer to themselves as “this writer” or some similar reference to deliberately avoid being viewed as rendering a purely subjective personal opinion as opposed to providing a more objective summary of evidence that has been assembled. Authors of novels use illeism with certain characters they’ve created as a stylistic tool, mostly for various types of emphasis. But it’s rare for people to employ illeism in common conversation. Because we all have our own unique ideas and experiences and prefer to speak for ourselves when we share what we think with others, we generally do so using what grammarians call the first person singular pronoun (i.e., making those “I” statements much touted in assertiveness training classes). In some cultures, there are actually occasions where speaking in the first person might even be considered either rude or impertinent. Of course there are those “royal” occasions where monarchs or other state officials use the first person plural form “we” instead of the typical singular form to denote that they’re not just speaking for themselves but rather for the masses as holder of a representative office. Still, it’s pretty unusual for the average person to use illeism. Most often when a person does so it’s because they’re being either defensive about or protecting a particular image. That’s why some think that folks who talk about themselves in the third person might actually be revealing their narcissism. For narcissists, of course, it’s always about image.
Just because someone is concerned about their social image, however, doesn’t make them a narcissist.
Just because someone is concerned about their social image, however, doesn’t make them a narcissist. People of genuine honor often guard their reputations with considerable passion. They may have worked very hard to forge their character and their public image as well, so they hate to see that image tarnished in any way. For that reason they might emphatically assert something like “John Smith is not the kind of man that would say or do a thing like that!” when defending themselves against unfounded accusations or other attempts at character assassination. But sometimes people who talk about themselves in the third person can in fact be displaying an air of haughtiness and grandeur. It’s their way of asserting that their very name or identity is important, inherently carrying significant social weight, and should command your respect. In recent years, several political figures have been criticized for that possibility; Bob Dole was famously parodied in popular TV sketch comedies for referring to himself repeatedly in the third person during his campaign for president of the United States. Recently, Donald Trump has also been criticized for illeism, and it’s his frequent referencing of himself in the third person that has so many of the blogs buzzing about how this reveals his narcissism.
While some have suggested that illeistic people are most likely narcissistic, for a period of time in recent years there appeared a consensus among researchers that high usage of the first person singular personal pronoun was itself the more reliable indicator of narcissism. Most recently, this notion has lost support, even among the original researchers who came up with the notion. So it seems that how folks refer to themselves simply isn’t a reliable tip-off about their character. Fortunately, there are a few other and much more reliable signs you might be dealing with a narcissist, even if you’re not sure which of the two main types of narcissist they are (see “Two Types of Narcissism and How to Tell the Difference”).
For one thing, when speaking about themselves narcissists frequently “fish” for compliments, validation, approval, etc.. If they’re of the more “vulnerable,” neurotic variety, they get anxious and feel easily hurt or slighted if you fail to heed their invitations to stroke their ego, whereas if they’re the more “grandiose” or character disturbed type, they’ll show their disdain for you if you fail to recognize what they already know to be their greatness. (You can find much more information on narcissism and narcissistic characters in Character Disturbance.) Also, when talking about their affairs with others, narcissists will rarely acknowledge error or personal shortcomings. Somehow, they’re always right and everyone else is wrong. If they have a history of failures in their relationships it’s never their fault and always the other party’s — or it’s bad luck, bad timing, circumstance, etc. Lastly, it’s not so much how someone references themselves that will reveal their narcissism but rather how they regard and refer to you. If someone’s repeatedly ignoring, disregarding, or stepping all over your feelings (even if they claim it’s not “intentional”), or acting like you don’t exist, don’t count, or especially, don’t compare, you’re probably dealing with a narcissist, or at least someone with a fair degree of narcissism in their character. So, if you’re involved with someone who has the unusual habit of referring to themselves in the third person, beware for sure, but don’t necessarily panic. Be less concerned with how they reference themselves and more concerned about how they regard you and the other people in their lives. That’s the surer test of their character.
