Do I think Trump meeting with Putin is a good idea? Putting transport and summit costs aside, it could be just as the Trump-Kim summit might have been.

However, how are Kim and Putin to trust Trump when they see him stabbing his own allies in the back? Wouldn't Trump's meeting with these leaders prove a little more fruitful if Trump could present himself as being trustworthy towards at least his closest allies?

The problem I see is this. If I were Kim or Putin and I could trust Trump, I might be more willing to enter the meetings with my guard down somewhat, less defensive and suspicious, and more willing to find some common ground.

Given how even his closest allies can't trust him, I'd be going in with my guard up, cautious, suspicious, and defensive. How can anyone make much headway in such a meeting?

I still don't know where he's coming from. He wants to raise walls against his fellow Catholics.
