A Canadian refugee Peace Corps?

Given that it will inevitably take a while to process all the new refugee claimants, what about this:

1. We establish a refugee Peace Corps. If they want better pay than mere social assistance, then they can join. There, they'd gain skills and work experience. Plus, since they're not yet established anywhere specific, any single man or woman with no kids could be assigned to work wherever needed, including in isolated communities. No busy-work though, all economically-profitable work. Infrastructure work, etc.

If they have kids, they need to be more established near a school, but even then, it could be near where they're labour is needed.

Thoughts?

Another idea would be just a Canadian Peace Corps that would include both refugee claimants and unemployed Canadians to help with mutual integration.

WE already have a "Peace Corps". It's called CIDA.

Getting involved in international development

The main difference between CIDA and the American PeaceCorps is that ours doesn't require quite as much political compliance from the recipients of our largesse.

I am the only one of a family of five that I came from that has not worked on a CIDA project, somewhere.

I thought USAID was a closer US equivalent to CIDA? As far as I know, Canada has nothing comparable to a Peace Corps.
