Oilers fans sing U.S. anthem after microphone stops working

There is nothing scarier for a performer than when equipment malfunctions.

That very thing happened to Canadian country star Brett Kissel on Sunday when his mic stopped working just as he was about to sing the Star Spangled Banner ahead of Game 3 between the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks.

Lucky for Kissel, the Oilers fans at Rogers Place were more than happy to sub in for him. (You can watch their sparkling rendition above.)

Within minutes, both “The Star Spangled Banner” and Kissel himself were trending on Twitter, and the moment led to an outpouring of love to the singing Oilers fans.

Imagine if that had been reversed ... down in the States, somewhere. Would anyone have sung OUR anthem?

Not a hope in Hades.

Not bad for a city in a province that far too many Canadians think is nothing but "classless rednecks".

Really? Still unable to accept the fact that you're a client state of no particular significance?

Oh, Canada! (American version):

Oh, Canada!
Mounties French and dope
Socialist healthcare
Snow and polar bears

Beer-swilling retards
Lumberjacks and stuff
Whatever, get the game going!

Most of your countrymen can't find Canada on a globe. Still unable to accept that fact that you live among the worst educated populace in the developed world?

The biggest customer for our goods and services is the U.S.

So, it is not unreasonable that reciprocally trading neighbours would know something about one another? We know a lot about you. Most Americans have a brilliant view of the insides of their anal sphincters. Extend that to their knowledge of the rest of the world and you have a dangerous, rogue superpower at loose.

Sounds good. Canada's five largest trading partners are:

1. The U.S.

2. China

3. The UK

4. Japan

5. Mexico

How many of their national anthems can you name, recite, or hum?

Do you know what the anthem of the EU is?

Well, I can sing the first verse of the Star Spangled Banger ... no further. We used to sing God Save the Queen in the morning in school, when I was a lad. That takes care of the UK anthem. I have sung the EU anthem in German (as a tenor ... my throat still hurts!) with a full symphony orchestra.

Freude, schoener Goetterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Himmlische, dein Heiligtum.
Deine Zauber binden wieder
Was der Mode Schwert geteilt
Bettler werden Fuerstenbrueder
Wo dein sanfter Fluegel weilt.

Among choristers, Beethoven's Ninth is known as a "screechfest" .

The other two ... I know what the Japanese anthem sounds like but certainly not the lyrics. Mexico ... the Hat Dance?

Who wrote the lyrics to "Ode to Joy?"

Who wrote the music to "The Star-Spangled Banner?"

So. . . you have no clue as to the anthems of three of Canada's five largest trading partners.

How about Russia? Germany? Pretty big countries, kinda important. France?

Most native born Americans can't even pass the American citizenship test never mind a Canadian one lol.

You should listen to Boomster. He has vast experience in the field of not passing tests.

So Good Morning to ya T-Bones.. you have a great day... and keep trolling...
The funny part is you troll all the time. You admit it, and admit you have fun with it. But when somebody trolls you, you start whimpering like a Hillary supporter.

I'm not sure there are enough juice boxes in the world to cure your chronic butthurt.

If you haven't noticed lately.. I am posting serious thread, trying to to steer away from the way I used to be here.

Have you even looked at your profile wall lately..

I guess when you offer a troll a olive branch, they just poke ya in the eye with it.

Again, you have a wonderful day T-Bones..

I have. Particularly the Iron Eyes Cody troll.

Difference is I didn't start singing "Poor Poor Pitiful Me."
