First past the post works.

Proportional representation makes the more deeply populated parts of Canada, such as the one that I live in more powerful and makes the less densly populated parts: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the North, Atlantic Canada ... less powerful. If votes become attached to population directly, Ontario in particular, will overwhealm everyone else, all of the time.

I agree. If any reform is required, let's start with simply removing party names from the ballots. That's perhaps the main problem I can see with FPTP right now.

Well, the system is designed for us to vote for our local representative. Stiff, brutal party discipline combined with voter confusion seeping up from the States about us "Voting for a Prime Minister" and not for an MP as per our system has seriously skewed the original bottom-up nature of our federation.

That's why I think the simple step of removing party names from the ballot would itself make a big first step towards improvement.

I never thought of that but it is an interesting idea.

As we can see from our Southern neighbour, partisanship is poison ... dangerously so.

Oh no. Can't you read dummy? Eaglecrack and Locust say Trump gonna save the day sap.

Raising tariffs is always a good thing. Just look at how it helped the US out of depression in the 30'... oh wait... it made it worse until it eventually led the world to war. Never mind.

I take it 'moved' is a typo? I don't follow thought. Sorry.

Sorry. I'm texting from an Android thingy and I have their bizarre random character generator spell check turned on. It is supposed to be "intelligent" but it works as if it were written by a 17 year old computer geek in California with an vocabulary of 500 words. Sometimes,it takes perfectly normal words, decides that you must be wrong and it generates something really crazy. I must turn it off ... Now!

Ah, now it makes sense. Thanks.

Of course it wouldn't solve all problems within our system, but it would be an easy step to a big improvement, so why not?

That's why we're safe!

You'd think 9/11 would have been enough of a learning experience for them.

Yeah we got some wicked azz bombs and shyt now we got a prick that will enjoy using them on isis and other azzholes.:).

Ever hear of blow-back? Why do you think the US bomber pilots were ordered to drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and then get their azzes out of there before the bombs hit the ground.
