Proportional representation makes the more deeply populated parts of Canada, such as the one that I live in more powerful and makes the less densly populated parts: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the North, Atlantic Canada ... less powerful. If votes become attached to population directly, Ontario in particular, will overwhealm everyone else, all of the time.
