Obama gives optimistic speech at Democratic National Convention

President Barack Obama painted an optimistic picture of America's future in a rousing speech on Wednesday that offered full-hearted support to Hillary Clinton in her campaign to defeat Republican Donald Trump and become the first woman elected U.S. president.

"There has never been a man or woman, not me, not Bill [Clinton] — nobody more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States," Obama said to cheers at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

"Tonight, I ask you to do for Hillary Clinton what you did for me. I ask you to carry her the same way you carried me."

This week's Democratic National ​Convention has picked up on some of the quirky moments seen at last week's Republican National Convention.

Of course, the DNC has seen its fair share of rocky controversy, too. The four-day event kicked off in Philadelphia with a leaked email fiasco that infuriated Bernie Sanders supporters and led to party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announcing her resignation because of her involvement with the scandal.

There also have been signs of division as some Democrats are making it clear they are not Hillary Clinton fans.

But thankfully, dance moves, strange fashion choices and Stephen Colbert have brought much needed comedic relief to the convention, making it a little more fun to watch.

Pushing more rights and protections for ethnics and women is patronizing and debunks the "liberty and JUSTICE for all" that Americans are so proud of.

It is patronizing BECAUSE all are created equal. The whiners and complainers have had the same chances as everyone else. If they didn't take advantage or those chances or had not the ability to do so how is it society's fault?
Some black men who rose to fame, Ben Carter, Bryan Stevenson and Colin Powell; all born in poverty and disadvantage. Anybody notice how many black men and women are lawyers, doctors, journalists, policemen, judges, teachers? Do you think they were all born into wealthy, prosperous lives?
Black people need to get with the program, stop feeling 'underprivileged and sorry for themselves, pay more attention to their futures than to their pasts. Women need to earn higher positions and wages by their merit, not by their gender. They too should be looking to their futures, not their past.
Let them all take advantage of the opportunities for education and commitment for betterment instead of getting pushed up by vote-seeking politicians.

How are women treated differently?

Yes, how are they treated differently? Are they REALLY treated differently? White male bashers tend to forget that it is white males who have dominated in politics and business because more white males strove for those positions. They didn't do such a bad job either, did they, or women would not now be having the jobs and opportunities they now have.
The question is, do women want equality or superiority?


I can honestly say that if I were a white male boss today I would be leery of hiring women. Women who work for a company/man for twenty years without complaining as they collect their paychecks now claim they were 'sexually harassed for years. Funny how it took them so long to speak up.


I worked in a man's world for more than 25 years and never had that problem. I was a very attractive woman and had men made advances toward me too. All it took to put a stop to it was to nip it in the bud; tell them straight out that you're there to do a job and earn a living, NOT to be a playtoy! If there's a problem with that, say so now and I'll look for another job. Dressing appropriately helped too.


If you work hard, are efficient and diligent you won't get any argument.


Sexual harassment needs to be more clearly defined. All women should know that men like to look. That's what men do. Is that sexual harassment? I don't think so. If a woman covers herself appropriately they won't have so much to look at. If she wears skirts up to her you-know-where and blouses that show the crack between her tits, men are going to look. Looking doesn't hurt anything. In fact it would be rather degrading if men DIDN'T look!

There are always exceptions, but in most cases, YES.
You can't drop out of school, take drugs, have babies when you're 14 years old and expect to advance yourself into a satisfactory career.
You can't have umpteen kids all to different irresponsible fathers and blame society for your troubles.
You can't join gangs and live like a thug and expect not to get shot and/or harassed by police or end up in jail.


People are given chance after chance to rehabilitate themselves and they continue to screw up and go back to their old destructive habits.


I know several white males right now who are out of work and have been looking for a job for months. I don't hear them whining about it. Worrying about it, but not whining! They keep looking and updating their skills and doing any job they can get however lowpaying or deadend while they keep trying for something better.
That's what it takes.
