I believe strongly in things like equal rights and equal opportunities. But not everyone takes their rights (or the rights of others as being equal to their own) seriously enough nor does everyone maximize their opportunities. I'm not sure if I'm phrasing it properly but I don't think we come close to achieving real equality until we start to participate by exercising our rights and taking the opportunities before us.
