I would suggest that the spirit is the non-material self. The spirit is fed what we hear, read, see.
What would you consider to be quality spiritual food, capable of producing healthy spirituality?

Wine is drunk at many Jewish festivals and on holy days. The wine is unhealthy and causes diseases, this is certain, but they in spite drink it for pleasure.
It is forbidden in the Torah and in the Quran.
Drank rather than drunk, that is after the drinking of said wine.Wine is drunk at many Jewish festivals and on holy days.

It was probably the winos who wrote the torah and tanakh and caused all these festivals as an excuse to get plastered.

There is a large Jewish community in Phoenix. On Saturdays I use to enjoy getting up early and driving to that part of the city and watching the families enjoying their Sabbath day all dressed up the men in their black suits and hats. The Ladies wearing their pretty dresses pushing the baby strollers and the other little ones walking behind. I guess being a divorced man I envied their commitment to family.59 years of experience, half of it in Englsh Montreal where a big part of it is Jewish. One third of my universty class was Jewish and all through school there were always Jewish kids in my class. They were my friends, neighbours, buds. I essentially grew up in a Jewish community.

I hear what you are saying but from experience I found that not allowing my girls to do a lot of the things that the other kids were allowed to do put a wall between my girls and I . I knew that sometimes I could not put friendship with my girls ahead of being a parent, but I also came to understand that you cannot put a leash on your children either. Regardless of how much you may fear them getting hurt. The youth live in this world the way it is and sooner or later they'll have to deal with the way things are. They'll make mistakes and they'll face the consequences of the mistakes they make. But that is how they will learn and grow. I did not shield my kids from the world and eventually decided not to try and get them to think like me about things. My girls are now grown and doing fine despite my mistakes raising them. I am glad though that I did not force religion down their throats. Quite honestly, I never felt comfortable going to church myself."Today's youth have constant access to many different forms of media through television, cell phones, movies, music, video games, and the Internet. Media can enhance children's education, learning opportunities, curiosity, creativity, and communication. However, it can also teach negative life lessons; consume too much of children's time; and distract them from exercise, other physical play, and socialization."

Various media rating systems suggest that some media content can be detrimental to developing minds. Indeed, life-long learners of any age must be cautious about the media content we ingest as media : spirit :: food : body.
Nobody in the bars I visited mention religion, let alone slammed anybody if they had one.
