anybody bother reading the original article?
Don't be silly.

The HQ guy is a fu cking moron. Has no idea what he is talking about, and it appears at least half the posters in here are in the same boat.
It's the standard winger tactic, right and left. Find an extreme opinion or set of facts and present it as the "other side's" norm.

One thing I don't get about the article. I have sex only with my wife and don't feel the least bit oppressed by it. In fact, I'd feel oppressed at heart if I did stray.

That said, I don't spy on my wife but trust and believe that she would not cuckold me. She could easily stray without my knowing if she wanted to, so though I would never consent to her having sex with someone else, I don't see how I'm oppressing her given that she has opportunities every week to stray behind my back if she wanted to. The article seems to suggest that by not consenting to it if she asked, that I would be oppressing her somehow.

This isn't about fu cking cuckolding. It's classic hedonism. An open marriage.

No, it's "cuckolding" when a married woman sleeps around.

It's "boys will be boys" and "my wife doesn't understand me" when a married man sleeps around.

EDITED TO ADD:

Oops, forgot "It's natural!"

When kids are involved, the game changes.
True. A woman's pretty much stuck with hers. A man can just abandon his.

What with DNA and all, that window's closing, though. Be sure to wrap that rascal!

pardon me?
He means "It's perfectly OK for a man to f*ck around and abandon any offspring, but for a child with no genetic connection to a man to get some of his money is COMMUNISM!"

Don't you have Google Translate?

The article isn't about a man or woman "****ing around".

So, I'm still waiting Captain, what do you mean about kids involved.

I suppose that's par for the course in your house... Responsible parents (fathers) take the opposite view

What with DNA and all, that window's closing, though. Be sure to wrap that rascal!

An added bonus by wrapping it up is that you stand a far lower chance of bringing home the clap, syphilis or gonorrhea.

Sure, that might be a unique gift for the kids at Xmas (hey kids, Mom got the dose under the mistletoe this year! Isn't that fun?), something that none of their friends can brag about at school the next week

He means "It's perfectly OK for a man to f*ck around and abandon any offspring, but for a child with no genetic connection to a man to get some of his money is COMMUNISM!"

Again, leave your formative years outta this discussion, m'kay?

See above.

Additionally: If this is the lesson that you want your kids to internalize during their formative years, then fill yer boots... And yes, it won't be long before they figure out that things are 'different' from that of their buddies... Hell, I can only imagine that wifey and the hubby probably have some 'candid' pictures of themselves floating around the net, whether they know it or not.

Add to this, the very real possibility that these actions lead to a separation/divorce... Happens everyday without the advent of open marriage, but the habit of stepping out with multiple partners (it's so exciting according to the article) incorporates a lifestyle that is not conducive to developing a strong family unit.

At some point, the father/mother (being separated) will have their partners coming through the doors... Real great for those kids

You are sounding just like coldstream and homosexuality. You don't have a clue about the lifestyle and start projecting your own inadequacies and prejudices. You have any proof of the accusations you are making? You have proof of increased divorce rate? I'll tell you right now, I know more divorced "vanilla" couples than I do "swingers".

The article was really clear... Buddy was having a crisis of conscious because his wife expressed interest in having sex with other men exemplified by this:

Monogamy meant I controlled her sexual expression, and, not to get all women’s-studies major about it, patriarchal oppression essentially boils down to a man’s fear that a woman with sexual agency is a woman he can’t control.

This is buddy justifying a position, that's all. That said, if they are bored with each other, so be it, but at least be mature enough to recognize this.

Everyone else on the planet gets their fill of tom-catting around before they commit to children, a mortgage, a career, etc.... Maybe they married too young and now want all of those 'experiences' after the fact... Fine by me, but have the stones to call it exactly what it is.

PS - spare me the horsesh*t in the sad little attempt in justifying your position by referring to me a a homophobe... It's akin to screaming about Nazism when you have no argument... So, deliver a point or just piss off

In the old days we used to describe women like her as tarts.

YOUR position is bullshyte and doesn't reflect reality. The same as Coldstreams. Your comment concerning divorce is showing your ignorance, unless you can prove me wrong by pulling up some stats. There is and has been multiple people on this board that have been in "the lifestyle" and were and are happily married. They also have kids that have grown up just fine and their home was just as loving, if not more, than any other "vanilla" home.

So, you spare me the horseshyte of your ignorant and sad attempt to denigrate something you obviously know nothing about.

Yeah... More BS and 'prove me wrong' nonsense.

As per usual, you bring absolutely nothing to the discussion, just a pail of childishness.

This is exactly what I wrote you buffoon.

Only an ideologue such as yourself would interpret that I was stating, unequivocally, that there was a greater instance of divorce.

So, you spare me the horseshyte of your ignorant and sad attempt to denigrate something you obviously know nothing about.

.. And you know all about open marriages?.. Pray tell, please enlighten us.

I can even help you out on how to start:

... I know a guy a work that has an open marriage, and he says... (this is where you fill in the rest, m'kay?)

Actually, that would be you. I don't know if anyone at my work is in the lifestyle, but then again, I don't talk about sex with my co-workers.

Only an ideologue such as yourself would interpret that I was stating, unequivocally, that there was a greater instance of divorce.

That was your implication. If not, then why bring up divorce at all. Just like the implication that there would be problems for the children.

Still nothing to add, eh?

Typical.

Say, seeing how you 'know' so much about this topic, especially as it relates to the divorce rates, hows abouts you quash my position by delivering this hard evidence?

... Yeah, I thought not... Just some more BS and blustering on your part.
