It's funny how non-Muslims are "required" to observe Muslim practices in Muslim countries, yet Muslims themselves aren't forced to observe Christian practices in Christian countries. In my view, all Muslims in Britain should be forced to observe Easter and Sunday Christian worship, or get a £10,000 fine and a year's imprisonment. When in Rome....

My position is, and always has been, that when you are in a foreign nation, you follow their laws. Yes, their laws may be indeed be stupid, they may even be discriminatory, but they are the laws and they need to be followed. It doesn't matter what your feelings are about it, it doesn't matter how upset it makes you, it is a hard and fast line that does not get crossed or you face penalties. No argument can be made because there is no argument. The only choice you have is whether to go there or not.
Your position is to enact discriminatory laws in your own nation where none currently exist. It is a bigoted and backwards position. One that is, sadly, completely predictable coming from you. And it is wrong.

My position is that when I'm in a Muslim country I, as a non-Muslim, will not be forced to observe Ramadan. I will stick to my Christian beliefs even if it means getting a fine. I am not a Muslim and will NEVER observe Muslim traditions. Those Yank troops should be taking the same stance.
Just like other countries have done, like in those countries mentioned in the OP. You may think such laws are "discriminatory" but others don't.
