So Cannuck, what are your views of other addictive behaviour or substances, whether gambling, tobacco, alcohol, narcotics, etc. Should they be regulated or not?

If the negative consequences are such that regulating it makes sense I don't have a problem with regulation. I do have a problem with buttinskis trying to ban things because they go against their sensitivities

Are you saying there is no social harm from fast food?

Look I get there are people like you and Boomer that like to protect people from themselves. That's why Canada has the nanny state.

Spent a lot of time there as well....also in Europe. Americans are real polite when they stop shooting at each other. Neither holds a candle to Korea. I wonder what their gun laws are like there

What a Hypocrite.

OK Cannuck, what your view on Hand Guns in Canada.. should they be legal and open carry????

Every other vehicle around here has a gun in it and I don't feel unsafe. I think it's a different issue though. The prostitution issue is about a business deal between two consenting adults. Why are you against free enterprise and human rights and in favor of the nanny state? Are you a Dipper?

You dogged the question.. what do you feel about Gun Rights in Canada.. should a "nanny state" control Canadians from owning unregistered hand guns..

Remember..

The short answer is no. I'm sure you would disagree though. Considering your stance on prostitution you wouldn't want to look like a hypocrite

So what would you say should be the degree of regulation of the sex industry? As for myself, definitely advertizing to ensure relevant educational content but unsure beyond that.
Some have proposed legalization and regulat madatory testing, though I am not sure how easy it would be to enforce that.
So what degree of regulation would you support?

Huh our health care services are already hurting... now we are going to test hookers.

So in addition to being difficult to enforce it would be costly too.
That's why I lean towards regulating the advertising side only, unless it's a well thought out rule that would be both effective and efficient.

You end up testing and treating them either way. Legalize and regulate and you can get taxes from them.

That could make sense too. Considering the harm done, they should pay taxes which in turn would make entering the trade less appealing.

I think that's up to the sex workers to decide. To me it's no different than having regulations for building construction. I'm not an electrician so I'm not interested in involving myself with the electrical code.

I just don't want to make electricity illegal because people get electrocuted. I know Boomer can probably quote some stats on kids sticking knives in outlets and descry me to "think of the children" but as has already been determined, I don't respect those that promote the nanny state.

So should the tobacco, alcohol, and gambling industries decide how they are to be regulated? From the online research I had done, it would seem that even some clients would like yo put and end to pristitution owing to its having become addictive like gambling.

Cannuck, WLDB, JamesBondo, I'm not saying it's wrong.. just saying you have to be a pretty big loser to have to pay for sex from a prostitute.

and you whacking off to free internet porn while your wife sleeps makes you less of a loser?

Well, technically the government does the regulating. They just gather input from they industry.

Go easy on Boomer. He's having a tough afternoon. He's gone from questioning people's manhood to calling people perverts to begging us to "Think of the children", to slavery, to gun control. It tough when you can't simply admit that you're wrong and keep digging deeper.

If that is what you meant, then maybe I agree with you. Should the medical community be consulted too, both mental and physical?
