Hey Blackie, found a new vessel to add to the Royal Navy... Comes with a Capt, 1st Mate and Science Officer.

She will be a wonderful addition to the rest of the rust buckets filling your dry docks

The UK debt hasn't reached that desparate state yet, Capn. The good news though is that by the time it reaches that state, no one will want to invade the UK anymore.

Blackie can station the SS Minnow to defend the Northern borders of Scotland... Much better than BL thumping his chest on shore and telling Putin that 'had their dingies and garbage scows not been in dry dock, that he'd send them to intercept the threat'

But didn't you know, Capn? Growing the national debt is part of the UK's national defense strategy: Strengthen the navy as long as someone might want to invade, and keep doing so until bankruptcy, after which no one will want to invade.

Brilliant strategy, don't you think?

Kinda like a scorched Earth strategy?

Looks like it's working I guess

Exactly, except that the traditional model of actually scorching earth isn't as effective on an island that's only a little larger than Vancouver Island. So this is the British version thereof.

The best part is that as the the UK becomes ever less attractive to potential invaders, the Uk can then sell off its military equipment little by little as the threat subsides so aas to allow the UK economy to descend more slowly.

They have it all planned, Capn.

And then once their economy becomes more attractive, they'll repeat the process all over again.

You might want to mention this to Blackie... I suspect that he is out securing a load of gas, errr, petrol to start the scorching process.

They call it the scorched economy strategy, or SES for short.

All Canada needs to fight off an anemy force in the winter is fire trucks with water hoses. Any enemy soldier who is hit will willingly surrender to the friendly and polite Canadian troops who will willingly provide him with warmth in exchange for his weapon. It won't take long to get them to agree to that sweet deal.

We are still suffering from Dutch Elm Disease, Pine Beetles, and Swine Flu - three invasions for sure!

Discounting the flu part we just need to find a use for the 'invaders', Canola used to be considered to be a noxious weed not that many decades ago.

. We 'beat' the First Nations, and we regret it today.

Really? You wouldn't mind supplying a link showing the individual battles for this war that we "beat" the First Nations in, now would you?

You're right. Bad wording. We stole from the First Nations and we're paying the price today.

So where were the US Navy ships, then? If we needed them so much, why didn't we call on them for help?

So are you saying the Canadians would be able to defeat a heavily armed flotilla of Russian warships, or a flotilla of eight British Type 45 destroyers and six Type 23 frigates, armed with nothing more than 15 lightly armed warships and a few fishery protection vessels?

You really do like deflecting, don't you? How about you just answer why the great and wonderful British Navy had to run a ship 600 miles and 24 hours to meet a threat, that sat and waited for the great and wonderful British Navy to get there. With the amount of time the great and wonderful British Navy took to meet the threat. The Soviets could have invaded and been at least half way to London by the time that single frigate made it on site.

If that Russian ship ended up in waters off Canada's Northern coast, we could get up
there what? Two months of the year? Four maybe?

We could get up there with one of the new modern boats we're building in maybe eight
years or something like that after we finish building the facilities to then build the boats?

If the Rusians tried to invade us in winter, I'd send in firefighting aircraft filled with boiling water (to slow down the freezing process) until intercept.

I'd say a fly over from cold lake would take a few hours max. I'd say we could have her at the bottom of the Arctic within 30 mins of the fly over. Why the hell would we need to put a ship off her bow?

boiling water to slow down the freezing process eh.........
