Céline Dion, is likely the most famous celebrity to have thrown support behind the Parti Québécois’s proposed “Charter of Quebec Values.”

Dion says she does so because “foreigners” (all Muslims are by default “foreigners“) need to adapt to “our country” (If you’re a Muslim born in Canada you still aren’t Canadian) that has been so “hospitable” to them.

One wonders if during her blabbering about “you have to adapt to our rules” she realized that she represents the legacy of a colonial community?

You're confused Loc. She's not a bigot, she's a Quebecois. They're close to the same thing, but not quite. The level of xenophobia ratchets up a couple notches when you're a Q.

I happen to agree with her. ALL immigrants, nut just Muslims, need to integrate into the society of the country they chose to move to.

The problems begin, when the host country begins to accommodate to the immigrants culture.

I agree with part of what she says but not all because like everything else
its not that simple. Immigrants should be entitled to their religion as long as
they don't attempt in any way to impose it on anyone else or attempt to
change the legal system to bring their concept of law here.
Natural born citizens should be subject to the same law, freedom of religion
as long as it does not attempt to impose their will on others.
As for Muslims born here not being citizens that is silly everyone born here
is a Canadian regardless of their background.
We must tighten the rules as to who can become a Canadian and the time
frame should be increased for everything from access to pensions to being
sworn in.
Those who commit crimes should be deported within 48 hours of being found
guilty no more of the endless appeals.
She is wrong about some of what she says but a bigot? I question that.
And no I don't care for her entertainment value at all but Quebecers see the
world differently just like Albertans and those from BC and Maritimes.
The reason we are having difficulty with subject is the PC crowd has everyone
afraid to discuss the subject openly that is the biggest problem.

Ain't it the truth? All we ever asked of the European immigrants was that they learn our languages and obey our laws. But did they? Hell, no. First they insisted that everything be in English and French. Then they started imposing their own laws. Eventually they said we belonged to their crowns.

I think anybody in the Americas who doesn't speak an American language should be deported.

In a free democratic society they dont really have to go all the way. Society is always changing. As a citizen they get a vote and pay taxes. They can use that to elect someone who agrees with them and make whatever changes they want to make if enough people want that change. Like it or not, if enough citizens want one change or another they can have it done for good or ill.

Natural born citizens should be subject to the same law, freedom of religion
as long as it does not attempt to impose their will on others.

The Mormons and Jehovahs didnt get the memo apparently.
