Well, the Canucks got a point out of this game. Luongo only let in one goal on the shoot out.......which was all the Penguins needed...

very good game, canucks outplayed penguins as penguins obviously are not use to putting up with the
close checking canucks handed them.

nice to get a fluky goal instead of giving one out for a change.
'
canucks deserved better, and I was dissapointed in our shooters in shoot out, as they were all trying
for 5 hole, they needed burrows with his 'go to' shot.

as soon as kesler slowed down in front of fleury I knew he was toast, no skill there at all, he needed
to come in fast, and either shoot or make a move.

anyway they showed good skills today, outworked pittsburg and got a point, so that is good, now on
to columbus tomorrow where lack will play.

luongo was 'solid', looked good.

Holy smokes, I was planning on watching this game at 4 P.M. -:)

I posted the time last night so everyone would know the time, shame shame lol

Indeed you did! Oh well, while that was on I was busy taking a 6 km. walk up and down hills, so maybe it's not a total loss. Anyway an over time loss on the road is still good, against Pittsburgh it's very good!

CANUCKS AT COLUMBUS - Sunday 3:00 p.m. pacific time

Blue Jackets return home to face CanucksSaturday, 10.19.2013 / 8:12 PMMike Battaglino - NHL.com Staff

CANUCKS (5-3-1) at BLUE JACKETS (2-5-0)

TV: SNET-VAN, FS-O

Season series: This is the first of two games between former Western Conference rivals. Last season, each of the three low-scoring games needed extra time, with the Vancouver Canucks winning two, including 1-0 in a shootout March 26.

Big story: Vancouver, after a 4-3 shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon, has a point in the first three games (2-0-1) of a seven-game eastern road trip. Columbus, which lost 4-1 at the Washington Capitals, starts a string of eight of nine games at home after losing four in a row.

"The guys are excited to get home, I think it's been a frustrating road trip, I would say," Blue Jackets forward Blake Comeau told the team website. "So we're excited; we're [going to] feed off the crowd. We know that Vancouver played last night like us, so we're going to be ready right off the hop. We know how important this game is for us."

Team Scope:

Canucks: To a man, Vancouver seemed very pleased with its performance against Pittsburgh at Consol Energy Center. It continued strong play on the road that followed two home losses in which the Canucks were outscored 8-2 by the San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens.

"The most important part is our quickness," coach John Tortorella told the team website. "I think we're playing quick, in transition. ... I think they feel good about themselves and I think they're allowing themselves to play."

Forward Zack Kassian, who missed the first five games due to a preseason suspension, scored his first goal of the season Saturday playing most of the time with wing David Booth. Ryan Kesler skated with Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin.

"That was my fourth game and I'm feeling better each game," Kassian said. "I definitely have more, but it's coming. I feel that definitely helps, scoring a goal and getting that out of the way, but I'm feeling better each and every game and it's time to keep it going."

Blue Jackets: To a man, Columbus seemed very disappointed with its performance against Washington at Verizon Center. The start is too similar to the point-squandering 2-5-1 beginning to last season, which ended one shy of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Western Conference.

"[There's] a lot to think about on the plane ride home," coach Todd Richards said. "The good thing about being an athlete is you have to prove yourself and you get the opportunities to prove yourself over again.

"This is really the same group that we had last year, mostly, and they found ways. We'll get a feel for where this team is at tomorrow."

Rookie defenseman Ryan Murray, who encountered John Tavares, Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg and Alex Ovechkin on his first NHL road trip, will find talented Vancouver forwards waiting at Nationwide Arena.

"They've got a lot of good players ... everybody does," Murray said. "Another fast team, another fast, skilled team. So just taking time and space away, just get on guys quick and make sure that [you] eliminate pucks and eliminating bodies at all times."

Who's hot: Canucks defensemen Kevin Bieksa had a three-assist game Saturday, his first since Nov. 2, 2010. Henrik Sedin has one goal and four assists during a four-game point streak. … Blue Jackets forward Marian Gaborik returned from the flu with an assist Saturday, giving him five points in his past four games.

Injury report: Canucks forward Jordan Schroeder left the game Saturday with an undisclosed injury. Tortorella did not have an update afterward. Forward Alexandre Burrows (foot) is out. … Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno (personal reasons) is not with the team. Forward Matt Calvert (abdomen) is on injured reserve.

I heard the penalty shot on the radio-I was in a knife shop @ a local mall and had to put down the unit I was admiring in case there was a goal and I inadvertently cut m'self.

get well soon, do you still have all digits?

Lack just stunk the joint out-completely flubbed a simple stop-he must be watching Luongo too closely.

Actually, Luongo should have been in goal, you don't want to leave what should be sure points to chance, save the iffy ones for Lack. Like Talloola says, all the teams are fairly even in talent. Play Lack against S.J. then if he loses it, it's no big deal and if he wins it, it really bolsters his confidence.

lack didn' stink anything out, he was fine, just give the blue ribbins to the person who deserves them,
and that is curtis mcIlhaney.

Canucks generated so many shots in the first half of that game, without scoring, maybe we need to look
at that aspect, again McIlhaney.

and playing luongo would not have guaranteed anything, as canucks still would have had to put the puck
past mcIlhaney, luongo can't score goals and neither can lack.

just one of those games where the team was stoned by the opposition goalie, that is reality.

there isn't always someone to blame in a loss, we just have to suck it up and give the other team the nod.

columbus 3 vancouver 1,

columbus 3 vancouver 1,

Had Vancouver's score been 0, I'd agree with you 100% but all they had to do was shut the other team out which I think with Lu would have been possible.

there is 'no' sure thing, and that analogy concerning playing san jose is totally wrong, you play your
best against the best, and you don't play any game figuring you'll probably lose so play the backup,
that is ludicrous.

didn't you watch how the other goalie played? lack only let in 2 goals, and you think if luongo had
of played it could be 0.

the team needs to score more than one goal, and even that goal was suspect, if it had of been against
canucks, we would have been screaming 'no' goal, and it easily could have been.

goals are scored in games, to expect to see many games with no goals scored, you should switch to
soccer.

just give the nod to the other team, their goalie stoned the canucks, kudos to him, it happens.

unbelievable, after your comments. there is only one critcizm after this game, our forwards who are
expected to score, aren't, and that is apparent right from the first game. we got goals from
santorelli, good for him, he wasn't one of the players I was referring to.
mcIlhaney could have at least let in two shots, but he was like a brick wall, and the shot that
higgins missed near the end, should have gone in, higgins didn't hit it clean, it was bobbling,
so another criticizm toward the shooter, if that shot had been quick and clean, mcIlhaney would
not have had a chance, no goalie would have.

coaches and players never ever play with a strategy that they will probably lose, that is a weak
approach to any game, doesn't matter if you are a weak team, and I still see the canucks team
as a middle of the road team, nothing elite at all, and that is ok,

the post game radio show commmented how well lack played, and canucks are doing well to have him
as a backup, so that backs up my comments about him, and the comment that he stunk out the place
is so far from the facts it is comical.

Santorelli is laying @ Top Form the Sedins did well as did Kesler-I heard Booth's name once when he cleverly set someone up for a penalty.

kesler is still playing like a checker, as his scoring chances and dangerous shots on goal are
almost nil, and daniel sedin is sadlly missing in action, he should be leading the team in
'goal' scoring, and it just isn't there.

santorelli is a nice story, but of late his scoring isn't there.

kesler and d. sedin have to be depended on for top scoring, and then get backed up by secondary
scoring, just not happening.

could help when burrows gets back, but we can't expect him to step on the ice in fine form, he
had a broken foot, and his skating isn't his strong point, so he will struggle in that area for
a while.

the new fellow (welsh), who played today did well, would be nice if he continues as he continues along,
he is a good skater, and a big guy, we'll see how that goes.

they badly need 'goal scoring', a big problem on the team.
