So what you're saying is that looking gay is sufficient reason to assault someone.
If he wasn't targeted because he looked gay, then why was he targeted?

You're being completely evasive. So are you playing dumb or are you just that thick?
He's just that thick.
Or neither one should be hate crimes. Rarely are any crimes motivated by hugs and puppies.

I agree.
If you attack a gay, a black, a disabled person or a Muslim it's a "hate crime". It's even a "hate crime" now in Britain to attack punks, emos and goths.
Yet it's not a "hate crime" if somebody attacks a straight, Christian white man who isn't a fan of The Clash, Jimmy Eat World or The Cure, even though I doubt that an attack on such a person was motivated by friendship and love.
Basically, if you are a black, Muslim, homosexual, emo with two heads your life is worth more than somebody like me who is a straight, Christian, able-bodied white person who doesn't walk around dressed like an imbecile.
Tell you what, I'll answer your above question if you can answer this one posed by Sons of Liberty in response to the statement you posted below:I'll ask again: If he wasn't targeted because he looked gay, then why was he targeted?
The last time I checked, this guy was targeted because they thought he was gay. And there was a reason why they thought he was gay. Could they not have thought he was gay because he LOOKS gay?
I would wager that that's what happened. You don't have to be Doctor Spock to work that out.
It's not that strange. The guy looks gay. He's a bit like Robbie Williams or David Walliams - one look at him and you think "Is he gay or isn't he?"
It's not strange he has been beaten up several times because people thought he was gay?
So you don't look like what you are yet a determination of sexual orientation can be made by looking at someone else?

The answer to the question It's not strange he has been beaten up several times because people thought he was gay? is, quite simply, No.
I'll ask again: If he wasn't targeted because he looked gay, then why was he targeted?
