Yea, he should have let Ford clock him.

That would have been a real story.

Councillor chides Ford over reporter run-in

TORONTO - Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker wasn't shedding a tear Thursday for Mayor Rob Ford's run-in with the Toronto Star.

De Baeremaeker blasted Ford's reported behaviour when he confronted a Star reporter behind his own backyard. But De Baeremaeker also took aim at the mayor's request of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority to sell him a piece of land beside his property that the Star reporter said he was investigating at the time.

"I think the mayor acted very inappropriately," De Baeremaeker told reporters on Ford's encounter Wednesday night with Star reporter Daniel Dale. "I think at a minimum the mayor should apologize to the person that he accosted, whether it is a TV reporter or Bell telephone repair person, if they are walking on a piece of property doing their job, not harming anybody, not doing anything inappropriate, they shouldn't be accosted and threatened and have a fist waved in their face."

Beyond the apology, De Baeremaeker had some further advice for the mayor.

"I think perhaps now it is as well time for the mayor to get some anger management counselling," he said. "This was just purely over the top, I cannot conceive in any way he thought his family was being threatened, especially when somebody said I'm a reporter, he looked like a pretty innocent looking reporter to me."

The Scarborough councillor — also a member of the TRCA — also wasn't very sympathetic to Ford's request to the authority to sell him a sliver of the conservation land beside his house.

"If anyone in Toronto should know that we don't sell park land it should be the mayor," De Baeremaeker said. "The mayor sat on the conservation authority board for a number of years, he's the mayor of the City of Toronto, I myself own a house that backs onto a park, we just don't sell people extra park land."

"We don't sell park land to anybody, we don't care how rich you are, we don't care if you're the mayor of the city, you just can't buy our park land, we say no to everybody," he added.

Chides.

Sounds like something a soothing balm would take care of. Is that worse than scathing?

Don't you sometimes wonder if the city desk at the Star, is run by members of the occupy movement???;-)

The wee bugger would make a fine poster boy. Can't say as though I could glamour or famous-him-up as I did with ol' Lotion Man*.

At least Danny Lotion of Lotion's Eleven seemed less-skittish about quick movements or adults and may have had a real set of bollocks.

* Search google images for "Lotion Man" for 'proud-to-know-you' Locutus props.

It may or may not be speculation, but perception is reality. When it come to Mayor Ford,
reality is often not part of the equation. The people if they are sane will rid themselves of
this embarrassment at the next election. This is clearly what happens when people go
and vote for change without asking what kind of change. Vancouver thought the elected
a prise candidate a few years ago only to find out their hopes were limited to the amount
of embarrassment the guy could bring to office.

If somebody good runs, he may be defeated. Last election he was surrounded by a bunch of leftard free spending hippies so he got in by a landslide.

Chides.

I am sure being chasticed by a leftard councellar would keep Mr. Ford up at night.

Then you'll be crying that he has a security detail and how much it costs.

You ideologues are predictable like that.

Well, apparently not, as I don't have an opinion yet on whether or not he requires security and if we should pay for it. It would depend on a risk and cost analysis, so I can't make that decision.

Risk and cost analysis eh..... and how much of taxpayers money are you willing to throw down the toilet to do that?

Ya ya, back pedal and attempt to look objective.

Good luck.

"Attempt" being the primary.

You may not have to at all if the figures are obvious and the media can appropriately inform the public.
