I find it tough to believe that these kids got past a roadblock that was in place.
You sure that you're not thinking that the compound was blocked after the shooting?

Those in power often use provocateurs to stir things up. The black block is riddled with them. Don't trust anyone.
Not a real road block but they were parked at the gate and thought it was OK for them through to hassle the farm. This is the truth as I know it. My brother in law had a lengthy talk with Webo. Does fracking wreck the aquifers?

I'm guessing that the Police weren't there to screen visitors to the place, but I will assume that they were there because Wiebo et al were not exactly model citizens.
In the end, Ludwig could have called the cops and had the kids dealt with... Instead, he made the decision (or someone did) to take a girl's life.
As far as fracking goes.. The jury is still out on the aquifer question, although I would speculate that if the aquifer and the drilling was shallow enough, there would be effects

Duh a truck load of rowdy kids. I'd know what they were there for. It is really too bad that they got shot. No doubt. But your point is well taken. But I have my doubts about the police not knowing the kids intentions. Either way it's a bad bad situation.
In the end, it was a bunch of kids (probably drunk) spinning donuts in Ludwig's compound, hardly something that a life should be lost over.
I also heard there was a tent full of kids camping in the yard. They could have easily been run over. And if it wasn't the first time, one could easily see how it escalated out of control.
