Chara's Hit on Pacioretty

This incident could easily have been avoided as there has already been discussions about putting the glass all the way around the rink (in front of the players bench). Nobody in hockey wants that because changing on the fly would be more difficult. Ease of changing lines trumps player safety. Is that Chara's fault too?

I think we should go the other way. Back in the 1800's and early 1900's there was no glass anywhere and the game was played below the boards. Put netting in everywhere and make it a penalty to play the puck into the netting.

The clip that i saw clearly showed that Pacioretty was The Last Player to Touch the Puck, and was chasing down his own forward pass... That Skatchie is a LEGAL CHECK. As far as having his hands up, Chara is 6'9", essentially his hands are always in other players faces. Still it was clear that the check was done from Chara's shoulders and hips, not with his hands to the head. That's just the facts.

It WAS NOT A LEGAL CHECK. He received a penalty for interference. He was too late to hit Pacioretty. You can't just hit somebody when the puck is already gone and it's no longer a continuation of the play. He chipped the puck past before chara intiated his move to hit him making it not a hockey play and not a legal check. If chara had already started his motion to hit Pacioretty when he chipped the puck it would have been finishing his check but that's not what happened.

And Karrie already showed the visible evidence which clearly makes fools out of anybody claiming he didn't use his hands to drive the kid's face into the glass. That part of the issue is not debatable. the visual evidence is 100% sealed up. He used his hands to drive somebody's face into a stanchion. period. end of discussion.

the penalty was not called untill after the refs realized he was injured. If he had got up they would not have made a call.

This would mean about 50 penalties per game even under today's style of play.

You can pull one frame from a film and make many inferences from it that would be proved wrong by every other frame in the film.

period. end of discussion.

So correct. Its done, its over, the league ruled on it and hockey goes on. End of discussion

F** off with this garbage. they didn't have time to put their hands up and call the penalty right away because in case you missed it, somebody almost freakin' died on the ice, moron.

no, it wouldn't. the rules for hitting in hockey have been the same since it started. just because somebody was the last person to touch a puck doesn't necessarily make him fair game to be hit at any time, that is just stupid.

No you can't. his hands were driving the kid's face into a stanchion. There is no frame that can show otherwise because HIS HANDS DROVE THE KID'S FACE INTO THE STANCHION

Nope, he's going to get charged, and sued for everything he has and the league is going to half to change their unfair retarded decision because they are not acting in the bets interest of the game in doing so. There will be legal action for years. The discussion doesn't end because two or three former hockey players working for the NHL think it wasn't a big deal. It was a big deal.

YouTube - Peca Crushes Selanne

Not sure but I don't think Peca got anything for this

I don't care who got what for anything. The league makes countless unbalanced and unfair decisions every year. It doesn't mean they should have the right to make an unfair decision here, just because they have in the past.

I guess we disagree then as to what is unbalanced and unfair. Besides, are you familiar with the term "precedence"?

the hits you are showing were before a rule change not allowing players to target the head, so there is no precedence, you are still as wrong as ever.

Skatchie - He has not and will not be charged. Rcmp hs completed their brief investigation and Pacioretty himself asked them not to proeceed. Prosecuters will not do anything either because they have too much difficulty overcoming hurdels of intent and implied accepted responsibility.

Obviously if Pac has asked the cops to drop it he isn't going to sue. You can try to sue if you like, maybe on the basis you suffered pshycological trauma from watching the replay over and over, but I doubt you will get anywhere.

The league will not change their ruling and no one can force them. They are a private institution and can set their own rules. Feel free to start a petition or something but they will just file it where it belongs.

Sorry but the video was posted in response to your statement "You can't just hit somebody when the puck is already gone and it's no longer a continuation of the play."

The video clearly shows you are wrong. Suck it up sunshine!

Heaven forbid the day that the panty-wastes dictate the rules to the NHL.

This is nothing new people nor is it a common occurrence. This is just another example of the elderly and pregnant getting their clogged colons in a knot. If this was a common issue (like shoulder to head hits) you would have something to argue. So please, if you are either pregnant or elderly, take an epidural or Kervokian's special.

The hit doesn't impress me much Durka.

It looks a lot like an intent to injure from the material I've viewed.
