I'm pretty sure it's the Liberal Party that worships at the altar of the Tamil Tigers, you know, going to their fundraisers, etc etc.
Nothing to ponder, for one, no civilized, humane country would deny help to ordinary people in desperate straits of health and hunger. #2 if they were turned away the perpetrators would never be properly dealt with. I personally think this is situation calling for U.N. involvement on all fronts, administering to the victims and dealing with miscreants. I'm just not sure exactly what it is U.N. does do.

Conservative or Liberal government - this statement is siimply ludicrous. Do you realize there are a lot of children on that boat? The children have been given over to Social Services which to me is a horrible thing for the government to do. The poor little ones being taken away from their parents in a strange land must be terrified. If these people have been found to have done nothing wrong in their own country and are not Tamil Tigers and if they can support themselves why not just welcome them to their new country. I don't want them here just to leech on the system but if they can support themselves (there is no TB in any of them by the way) and if they are here to live AS CANADIANS, we have room.

JLM, I just don`t think it`s right to pull these frightened children away from their parents in a strange land. I realize the parents have to be cleared of wrong doing but surely there must be a way that at least a couple of Moms could be in a place with the children. I would hope what you suggest is possible after a short period of time but I think to be realistic and act on the side of safely, ALL adults aboard have to be presumed to be criminal until proven otherwise. Otherwise we are going to end up being hood winked, just like we were when all the alien gangsters moved into Richmond, Surrey, Abbotsford etc. Let's take the time to do this properly, it may mean a little short term adversity for the kids but in the long run they will be better off (if separated from criminal parents) and besides a little adversity builds character in kids.

I don't think it's a matter of getting rid, but more a matter of being a little selective in who we accept. Think of the country, Gerry, like you would your house. You come acreoss to me as a caring, compassionate person, so I think the ones we select may be the same as the ones you would take into your house and feed. "GAssing, bullet, starvation" would only factor in as far as dealing with smugglers, drug traffickers etc.
