Hello everyone. I'm finally getting around to developing some Canadian domains I own. Thought I would try and get some feedback from the members here. If you were searching online for NWTCanada , what would you expect to find on the web site?

History, jobs, tourism or something else? Or would you expect to find a bit about everything? I will build the website according to what people would search for the most if I can have some feedback. I currently just have the domain on a Google parked page.

Not only do I have a certified domain registry [ HOSTNHUB ] but I buy and sell personal domains as well to make extra money. For example I purchased bullionbull (dot) com 4 months ago and sold it for 560.00 last week on Sedo. It is presently being transferred to the new owner.

Not huge money but a good return on a 10 dollar investment. Having good web site content helps with PR (pagerank) so that is why I am asking members about content to develop nwtcanada (dot) com
Thank you for any replies.

Hi the .com industry is a very tricky subject when it comes to domain names, reason being deals with Trade Mark ISSUES.
One could have a cool domain name, but if a company is out there has a simaler name that has longer existence from the day the Domain was registered, to the day back of the Companies existence, then the Domain name is useless being that the Company, who has been around longer would be able in court to prove that this Domain name violates Trade Mark rights.

Many companies are keeping an eye on this problem, only because it could spell profit loss from a name that is on the same concept as the company.
As far as ideas to make a website which will attract 1 MILLION hit’s a month, one should look at websites that have this type of traffic and emulate their strategy.
Cheers

Many companies as they say register the telephone book - evey combo - every way to sunday so as to prevent this - but sex. com was up for sale starting bid at 1 cool million - you never know what will catch on - witness the business student in England - stated a web page sold space at 25 k if i recall made a cool million. used that as a case study or something - was on the news 2 or 3 years ago -

If I were lookng for a NWT site, I would want it to see live links (traffic, scenic) and a good clear map of the territory with clickable sections to local business websites,.

It depends on what would be practical.

What was your original motive for the site? Were you trying to fill some need you'd noticed? Consider things you've found difficult and how your site could help with that. Was it finding a particular business, getting directions to get somewhere, where to buy this or that product, or some other ĉallenge you think the site could solve?

If I was looking for a NWT site I would google it and probably find exactly what I need by any similar name.
Your post actually comes across as inviting us to write to you to purchase domain names and then see if we can re-sell them for big bucks. I think you are spamming us.

If I wanted to spam I would post the sites I do have developed. Around 30 so far and growing. I was looking for honest feedback what people would search for so I can develop this domain according.

Thank you for your input. I know all about trade mark abuse. I see it every day in namepros forum when the newbies post their new domain registrations. I have a site to check for trade marks registered. Some people just do not understand how they work. I started this thread to try and get the best ideas to develop nwtcanada (dot) com I went with the .com domain extension because it is generic where .ca is country specific. I think I will just try and have a little bit of everything on it. Have a French language version also.
I came to this forum because of all the canadians here and they know that nwt stands for North West Territory.

Hello. I bought this domain because I thought it would be good for development. I'm just asking what people would be looking for so I can have relevant site content. I own about 200 domains personally. Some I keep for myself and others I develop to sell. A bare domain is not worth much unless you own some thing like social (dot) com or a highly searched term. Some domains I just park and earn revenue from sponsors. The better ones I develop with a web site. Its a side line business for me at moment just like my domain registry. I am asking here looking for feedback so I can build it according.

The right domain can help with retirement. For example Russia (dot) com sold for 1.5 million a couple of months ago. Boating (dot) com went for around 250 thousand a little while back. The highest I have heard so far was porn (dot) com for around 9 million.

So you see a domain is a cheap investment but if you get a good one you are on easy street.

Cool, two things if I may bring to your attention,

One is, if you are looking for ideas, live the examples of how much money you made selling a D name, it looks like a sales peach, (spam)
second, I see no humour on your avatar as well no connection to your idea being a web developer.

I have been through this road before and had registered 200 D names that became money down the toilet.
..no offence just my opinion..

Just how do you think the information gets on Google so you can search for it? By magic? Some one bought the domain and developed it so people can view it. That is why having good content is key. Most people will not even look past the first page in search results. I do have some web sites that rank first out of millions of returns when you do a search for the item. Just like this forum you are posting on. A person bought canadiancontent (dot) net and made this web site. I asked a simple enough question I thought. What information would you be seeking if you searched for NWT Canada? I'm looking for what information the majority of people would search for.

No offense taken. What were some of the domains if I may ask? Most domains get better search returns with age. If you had any thing good I might pick them up. Where they developed at all? Or were you just one of many who think they can buy a domain and it magically becomes worth more. Did you use any SEO tools for the names? SEO (search engine optimization) If you find no humor in my avatar that is no problem. I can switch them quite easily. I find it funny that a lot of people that can click a mouse and post a pic now consider them selves some sort of a computer expert.
Just like this thread. I asked a simple question what content you would be searching for when you did a search for NWT Canada? I have had one good answer.
Wrong forum and I will not ask about content here again. Wrong group of people to ask. I like to keep an open mind and visit lots of forums. The web masters forums are much better for this type of inquiry. I gave it a shot here and now I know better not to ask this type of question in this forum.

History, jobs, tourism or something else?

1.All about Nature of Canada - climate zonality, natural animal and natural vegetation, soils, nature zonality, etc.

2.For the chapter of tourism:
Nature showplaces – beautiful mountains, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, etc.
Nature Nation Parks – how to come, where to live, what the rules there, etc.

3.Environmental protection, preservation of wild life, conservation, – green nonprofit organization, ecological problem, solution of these problems or some action for do this, methodics and so on.

Thank you Lessie. You have some really good information. I have the basic web site built now. I still need to add the French conversion and I will use some of your ideas. Much appreciated.

So if I understand correctly you're into this strictly for the money with no social motive beyond that. In that case, how about you pay us a salary for our input?

You are paid with a web site that has useful information when you do a search in Google. I spent money on buying the domain and a couple of hours of my time making the site. All you have to do is click a mouse to have information. Do you think you should pay to use Canadian content? Some one spent a lot of time developing this site so you can use it for free. They hope to make money off advertising. It is a discussion forum. No one said you have to answer anything.
