I think we've been waiting for 142 years. It appears Nova Scotians have finally said to hell with it and have tried to off themselves.
Do you know anything about NS politics? Why there was an election? Who the candidates were? Did you follow it at all?
If you think the NS NDP are any different than the libs or cons your crazy. Dexter is very cautious and should not do anything to rock the boat too much. Thats his style.

Please forgive my Laziness tonight, but I'm just too tired to bother looking
this up myself. I think what I'm seeing here are critics of Provincial NDP
Parties by people in Provinces that have actually been lead by NDP
Parties.
I'm also seeing defense of Nova Scotia electing a Provincial NDP
Party to lead them....and I'm going to take a stab in the dark here,
but I'm assuming Nova Scotia has never been lead by the NDP
before this last election? Am I reading this right? Am I up to
speed here?

Which question? Do I think Nova Scotians are stupid? Yes. The NDP have been, at best, incredibly underwhelming everywhere they've gained power and, at worst, driven economies into the ground. I know, I know...these guys are different.

I'm defending our decision by saying that our options were weak and Mr. Dexter was the best option.Nobody wants to believe that. Thats fine. I've read about experiences of other people with the NDP, most seem to be negative but I did hear some good things about Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
My main point is, parties are all the same. Conservative, liberal, NDP all parties are good and bad. Wait and see how Dexter does, he has a rep for being more conservative than our former conservative premier. No, they got out 55 years ago. It'll always be home but they think the best thing they did was get out of the Maritimes...too much reliance on the government. I'm surprised they haven't elected an NDP government before now. The best thing that could happen to the Maritimes is to have them forcibly removed from the government teat.

Saskatchewan had a good run with the NDP back before the NDP was
the NDP (it was still the CCF). I can't speak for Manitoba, but it seems
the folks on here stating that Saskatchewan and the NDP (in lets say the
last twenty years or so) where right for each other...those folks aren't in
Saskatchewan. Strange that, eh? Oh well....
I'm serious though. Look at the locations of those posting that say the NDP
was good for Saskatchewan. It's kind of an eye opener. I wish nothing but
the best for Nova Scotia and its fresh run with an NDP Leadership, but the
Critics are people from BC, ON, SK, & Cannuck who came from MB.
Those voices all have lived under Provincial NDP Parties.
The NDP is kind of a weird duck. Maybe a four year run and then getting
them out might not be too bad. This will be an interesting thread to bring
back to life in about 4&1/2 years or so.

I agree, but I'd go a step further and say why not just leave Canada. From NB to NL people would go for it! NL already has a movement. I'm sure you'd like that since you clearly don't have much respect for us.

I've never been to the Maritimes, but I hear that it's nice. I have worked
with many people from the East Coast of Canada though when I worked
in Alberta (Calgary, Red Deer, and up in the Patch). I only have direct
experience with East Coasters in Alberta, and those guys work their
arses off!!!
Many of the Members here at Canadian Content are in or from the
Eastern end of Canada....many of those are still in or on the East
Coast, and many of them have followed work West into Canada.
This movement you speak of? If it succeeds, then what? How
would that work?

The movement is in NL and not so much the rest of the maritimes. I don't really know much about it myself. Just know about it from a lot of friends on The Rock. Some have fractured and started the NL Party which is trying to be a regional party but had separatist roots. That comment was more bait to see how much Canuck hates us. I love this country, all of it, I've been to every province and the Yukon. It is a great country and I don't want to leave. However, you can only be called irrelevant & defeatist so many times before you get the hint that you're not wanted.
I did do a bit of research before the election and it seemed that BC had very bad experience, ON had bad experience, SK had a fair experience and MB had an okay experience. That was the general sentiment I was able to composite from those who didn't totally appear to be hardcore partisans.
Is anyone ever happy with the governing party? It can't get any worse here in NS so why not. I need a new job so I hope those people do leave ; ) lol

Currently, I'm VERY happy with the current governing Party. The NDP went
out after four consecutive terms (even the Unions where tired of the pace),
and in came a new party...and along with that came industry and investment
dollars that avoided Saskatchewan under the NDP. We now have (I believe)

much more positive, it's a night and day type of change....

Saskatchewan couldhave been as wealthy as Alberta but Saskatchewan drove businesses away because of the NDP government for yars when the NDP were finally voted out the opportunities rose and now Saskatchewan is the place to go if you want to work.
Nova Scotia will be in the same way because the oil companies will not deal with a comunist ragime which the NDP is close to.
