Good morning, CDNBear!
In your post #12 you implied that I was a right wing nut job and then, carefully added that you did not say I was. Clever!
YJ, reread what I said please...
Have you ever stopped to think that maybe you are just like evry right wing nut job? I'm not saying you are, I can hardly get a balanced view of you as a person from the net, but you have no idea what I do or where and how I get my news. That sure won't stop you from assuming that I have never watched Faux news.
Please pay close attention to the highlighted portions.
In this post you imply that I am racist.
No I didn't. I said...
Did I actually call you a name YJ? I find your indignation puzzling, especially since your a staunch supporter of 'suck it up', when it comes to descriptive stereotypes of other races...;-)
Which is again substantiated by the following qualification. You are a self proclaimed Conservative, who has defended stereotyping, in several threads, including this one. If you feel stereotyping is of such honesty, then you should have no issues with it being used to stereotype you and your ideology...
If having a good laugh at stereotype jokes makes me a racist, so be it. Stereotyping is rooted in truth, whether we like it or not.
To which, I must agree. There is truth rooted in stereotypes, but they certainly are not an appropriate descriptive of entire communities. Which has been my only concern with stereotyping.
I have been "victim" of such jokes, but I laughed along with the ones who told them, because I am a grown up person, with a sense of humour and not a child who cries to mommy everytime somebody says something "offensive".
As do I YJ. But I'm not talking about the one about what you get when you have a room full of Squaw's...a full set of teeth. I'm referring to the stereotyping of entire communities as this or that, not based on fact. And when confronted with fact, one chooses to revert to and steadfastly maintain an incorrect stereotypical image of said community, that sir, is racism.
Life ain't fair and only the overly sensitive don't realize that.
I tell my sons life isn't fair all the time, it's the sad reality of life. It is what we make of it YJ.
Back to the topic. It doesn't reflect on your good judgement that you picked up the idiotic attempt at pun: "Faux News".
I lable them as such, because it is a term I can easily back up. They are a contemptable news source YJ, pure and simple. If you wish to view them with a balanced helping of alternate sources, then you have an entirely different case. But if you think Faux News, is the end all of MSM, you are sorely mistaken. As I have already pointed out, there are countless examples of Faux News bending, omiting and obscuring fact to suit its demographic.
