I think it's a fairly important visit, I.P. more to establish camaraderie than anything else. Harper could probably use an international friend or two and it won't do our country any harm either.:lol::lol:
It's a show of good will and too brief to mean much of anything. I'm not against it and maybe a short visit is not as expensive for our country as a longer one with a huge dinner bill attached.

I know exactly how our government works. I heard the massive figure that this visit was costing us, unfortunately I can't remember what it was. If I come across it, I'll post it.

Security teams with bomb-sniffing dogs monitored Obama's motorcade route from the airport to Parliament – part of a massive police operation that will cost an estimated $2 million.

Less than the cost of snow removal after a storm in Ottawa

I guess it's nice that he dropped by Canada first. 6 hours seems like such a short time to fire up that big plane for. News says there was no Obama-mania - only a few hundred people showed up to see him. There was a little snow apparently but mild temps. making slush. It appears the visit is really no big deal.
I heard and saw the contrary!:-?

Seems to me that the Glibs spent $2 million on that "Voice of Fire" or "Breath of Ice" painting or whatever it was called. And THAT was back when $2 million was a big deal. The NDP spent $2 million in BC on a piece of land that was assessed at 800K. I think $2 million these days isn't too bad to spend on something that may actually prove to be fruitful (good relations with a neighbor).

I couldn't care less if bama is here or not. All it is doing is costing us money. What can be said face to face can be said in a conference call...

Good day Risus, first of all that no charisma PM we have here in Canada has subjected the Canadian tax payers in the tune of $2.340.000 per year in having the senate stuffed like a thanks giving turkey because the idiot we have as a PM HAS NO CLASS. So, FYI the doe spend on the Obama visit is insignificant to the amount of the unnecessary senate appointments. So, one black eye on your dull mentor Harper.

Big deal. The Glibs have done the same in the past and the Dippers probably would do the same if they were in power.

Good days Glibert, Harpers days are numbered, and by the way Harper looked pathetic next to Obama.

Harpers brand is cheating lying and division. Soon he will be packing his bags; you can take that to the bank.

lol Again, big deal. ANY PMs days are numbered. Politicians in general look pathetic, anyway.
Martin's brand was cheating, lying, and divisive. Chretien's brand was lying, cheating, and divisive, Mulroney's brand was cheating ....
There's nothing different about Harper except his face. Faces are ALL that changes in the PMO. Favoring one when they ALL do the same is simply a fool's game.

But neither Martin nor Chrétien run through the back door with undeclared income.
Any PM’s Days are numbered? well, Harpers stay in Sussex drive has not been one on enjoyment but rather one running and hiding behind the GG skirt to insure an extra day at Sussex drive,
So……………………, Harper looked like the PM who in silence was saying to him self I wish I was Obama. They say the look on a persons face has the clear picture of what that person thinks. Harper looked very insecure for the obvious reasons.
Dull Dull very Dull.

Good day, hypocrite, you are off topic, but just let me say this that most of the turkeys stuffed into the senate are liberals stuffed there by liberal turkey PMs.

That is a laugh, and Obama will invite Harper not to play a game of golf like other presedents have done during their visits, but maybe Obama will teach Harper some Basket ball. Oh well, by the sounds of your post Risus it looks like you can’t wait for a Conservative majority for Harper, as long as that makes you sleep better ok by me , but don’t be disappointed if in the next Canadian General election Sassex drive will be a liberal living in it. You must love the mounting debt you will give to your children or grand children, and debt in the 100B range. Oh........... the Conservative cheat is the best think that happened to Canada, hey man Canada deserves far better then these dismal losers.
