'Women trafficking women is the norm'

UNITED NATIONS — Women are the biggest traffickers of other women and girls for the international sex trade in almost a third of countries that keep such statistics, the first United Nations global report on human trafficking has found.
The 292-page study says this is particularly surprising because organized crime is, in general, an overwhelmingly male activity.

The report also says many of the female traffickers are themselves former sex slaves, while women offenders have in general, a more prominent role in human trafficking than in any other crime.

“It is shocking that victims become traffickers,” said Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of the UN Office of Drugs and Crime, which released the report Thursday.
“We need to understand the psychological, financial and coercive reasons why women recruit other women into slavery.”

Costa said that “women trafficking women is the norm” in Eastern Europe and in Central Asia. But the report shows that even in the Western European countries of France, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal, the proportion of women convicted of human trafficking outstrips female conviction rates for all other crimes combined.

They're not talking about "slaves" per se, but rather trafficking in women to become hookers

Abused become abusers...no shock there really. We see it in men who beat woman. In adults who sexually abuse children.

If you watch tv you see how it's slap stick now when a woman threatens to or actually does hit her spouse. In my head I see the rolls reverse and I hear the outcry and outrage...It's not ok: for a man to hit a woman or a woman to hit a man. It's wrong.

Children do seem to rule the world now. It use to be that restaurants announced if they were family restaurants...now when a restaurant wants to be adult oriented they get flack (See Sammy J Peppers). It's ridiculous.

I've witnessed women beating up on their man, and it wasn't a pretty sight. Both times tho, the men took the beatings as if they enjoyed it, These were smallish men and their female mates were gargantuan. One lady then decided to take me on:-(
