This is amazing! They show it in reverse slowmotion. And it's a good thing because I never would have believed there wasn't photoshop involved

Yes, truly amazing. The way that octopus melts back into the water plant is close to miraculous.

Newfoundland!
awesome video. octopodes are amazing creatures.

I have a photo of one i saw in australia:

The only reason I could see it is that i touched it and it freaked out on me. Fortunately I was too far south for it to be a blue-ringed octopus

it changed colour a lot and swam around a bit. this photo was taken as it calmed down. it was just settling down into a good place. 5 seconds later it was completely invisible

I watched a few other vids of Octopi at that site while I was there Said1 - pretty cool - a bit creepy too how they can ooze and slurm their way in and out of itty bitty spots.

Hermann - can't tell how large that one is your photo, is it a big 'un?

*viarious wondering: Is Octopi the correct pluralization of Octopus? Wouldn't be Octopeese... Octopoo? hahaha nope, I'm sticking with Octopi - if someone can provide the correct plural please do.*
:p

that one was about 18" across. not a big one.

I wondered the same thing a few years ago and looked it up. it's commonly believed that the plural is octopi, but it's actually octopodes
