CTV News | Italian judge convicts CIA agents of kidnapping cleric

MILAN, Italy — An Italian judge on Wednesday convicted 23 Americans in absentia of the 2003 kidnapping of an Egyptian cleric from a Milan street, in a landmark case involving the CIA's extraordinary rendition program in the war on terrorism. Citing diplomatic immunity, Judge Oscar Magi told the Milan courtroom Wednesday that he was acquitting three other Americans.
Former Milan CIA station chief, Robert Seldon Lady, received eight years in prison. The other 22 convicted American defendants each received a five-year sentence.

Will he push to have these Americans extradited?

Imagine if someone did like Bush, Sr in forcibly extraditing Manuel Noriega. Wouldn't that be a trip?

The big question is did we allow this to happen because of political correctness? Could he have possible been prevented if someone had said this officer is going to far with his radical statements. Sometimes we just over correct. Should members of radical organizations be allowed to serve in the military, should they be allowed to function period if they are a danger to the general population? Is there a way to do this without infringing on their basic human rights?

I am still wondering how we got away with forcibly extraditing Manuel Noriega the way we did, Not a whimper from the world. Talk about someone not being liked.

Depending on whose stats you wish to believe, anywhere from 200-2000 Panamanian civilians were killed. Not one Congressperson in either political party demanded that Bush be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors. This much to the pleasure of the far right like Canucklehead.

We will see how all this plays out thru the courts. If they are doing it, shut them down. Maybe this will tell them that were serious, but then again what will Obama do, that is the part that doesn't sound right.

I did just a little research into a related matter: in 2002 the DOJ under Bush audited that organization on the grounds that it gave financial aid to terrorist Abdul Rahman whose hatred for the USA is no secret. The investigation proved fruitless because the Bush regime forgot one very important thing: Rahman is Sunni, Iran is Shiia. Rahman considers Iran more of an enemy than anyone else.

Most likely this will turn out the same way.

"Will he push to have these Americans extradited?"- If he's as clever as I think he is the answer is no- you go to another country to screw around, you should automatically become their "guest". They may get a little tired of maccaroni and pizza, but they'll survive. Obama has "bigger fish to fry" right now with getting his new healthcare scheme underway, without losing too much sleep over those guys.
