SirJosephPorter, I was not the one who brought up the question. In his infinite liberal wisdom, JLM did. Conveniently forgetting that Nixon was also dead.

And PLEASE, DO NOT go putting words in my mouth about good/dead Democrats.

Maybe your vacation wasn't long enough for you to clear your mind.

OK Yukon, let me rephrase JLM’s question. If you don’t think that the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat, which of the living Democrats do you like?

Offhand I could rattle off several Republicans whom I regard favorably, Collin Powell, Senator Susan Collins, Olympia Snow (even Giuliani) being a few of them.

S.J. is a pretty square shooter, although his and my ideologies are a little different- he NEVER swears or uses foul language to anyone, I DO when they piss me off too much. Just keep in mind the ones who call him down have his I.Q. minus 100.

Typically, changing the subject is the last resort of a debater who has nothing left to offer.

But let me humour you: I have very high regard for liberals/Democrats like Bob Beckel, Kirsten Powers, Juan Williams; Lanny Davies and even some Democratic politicians who put the fate of their country ahead of party lines.

I notice that you only support those conservatives/Republicans who are notorious turncoasts. Surprised that you did not praise Arland Specter to high heaven.

Trying to get somebody banned is an easy short cut to try to stifle the opposing argument. Anyway, I am just recounting what the Troll said in the red rep.

lol Yes. I've been here for a week and have figured out a couple of intolerant, abusive, and immature sorts.
I suspect that the mods and administrator(s) are more reasonable, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.
And I got a red thing, too. Also from some wuss who didn't leave an indication of identity. My supposition was that they couldn't debate me so they had a dose of sour grapes. It was funny.

That is a bit simplified, but accurate. Canada is an authoritarian oligarchy but democratically chooses which oligarchy it wants from two factions.
The USA, is a republic that chooses its rulers democratically also from two factions.

My sentiments exactly, ironsides. We are usually on the opposite side of the fence, but here I totally agree with you. The day it stops being fun to participate here, I am out of here.

Now back to Sarah Palin. The NY Times story seems a little slanted against her. Reporters just writing what they want us to think. How the mighty Times has fallen. It is not "All the news that's fit to print anymore."

Maybe so, ironsides. But Palin rubs many people the wrong way. She has great appeal for the Republican base, no question about that. But she will have to find a way of broadening her appeal if she is serious about running in 2012. At present she appears very much the lightweight, in spite of the respect and awe in which she is held by the base.

I understand how she has become a target, based upon her association with Senator McCain. What ever base she had, eroded after she accepted the VP nomination, even her popularity in Alaska eroded. Can't help wonder how much of that was the Democrats taking advantage of a situation rather than her actually doing anything really wrong. She has over 3 years to get her act together, time will tell.

I disagree. Tomatoes, lemons and grapefruit are very tasty. That diagram must have been produced by fascists!

Democrats may be partly responsible for that ironsides, but isn’t that their job? That is how politics works. Democrats saw an opening, a vulnerability (especially after Katie Couric interviews) and they pounced. Republicans would have done the same in their place.

But a shrewd politician overcomes such negative barrage of attacks and comes out triumphant, look at Clinton. Republicans threw everything they had at him (including spending 100 million dollars of taxpayer’s money to investigate him and impeaching him on a purely political, partisan basis). Yet he was more than a match for them and left office with approval rating of 65%. Same applied to Reagan, the negative press coverage never bothered him.

That is what a seasoned, experience politician can do. Palin still has a lot to learn when it comes to politics.

Indeed, she is, Walter. Why do you think she is so popular among the dirty old white men? Do you think they like her views? Don’t you believe it. They like her view, not her views.

But of course no comment on the article and her message.
You must be really scared of the messanger if you can't rebut her message.
And is it your contention that all white males are dirty old men.
Isn't that quite a broad blanket,or of course it is only conservative white men that are dirty.
You are to funny.

But of course, pgs. Didn’t you know that all the Democrats are deathly afraid of all the Republicans, that all the liberals are deathly afraid of all the conservatives?

So of course Obama is deathly afraid of Joan of Arc, of Mark Sanford, of Rush ‘drug addict’ Limbaugh and so on. You figured that out just now, did you?

Cons of course. They have a great love affair with guns, many of them have huge stashes of firearms stored away.

Also, many women are liberal. Liberals outnumber conservatives vastly among women. The typical conservative is in love with firearms, opposed to any restrictions on the purchase of firearms and tends to store up as many firearms as he can.

Now, if they can force the liberal women to keep house for them, have babies and in general confine themselves to the kitchen (though I would think a liberal woman would be a terrible cook and house keeper), they may possibly spare the liberal women. But otherwise it would be carnage.

It would appear, pgs, that you have hit the nail squarely on the head. For somebody that claims to be such a great debater, Joey spends a considerable amount of time attacking people instead of ideas. I wonder what JLM is going to do. He doesn't like that type of behavior...apparently.
