MOSCOW -- For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media.
Igor Panarin
In recent weeks, he's been interviewed as much as twice a day about his predictions. "It's a record," says Prof. Panarin. "But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger."

Well who knows, maybe he is right.
One thing we do know for sure is that Russia is falling apart considerably faster than the United States.
Last time I was there the whole place was coming apart at the seams.
Democracy and rule of law is failing.
The Kremlin is running out of money at a record pace.
Pretty much all state spending is funded by oil exports and that is well and truly in the crapper.
Most state spending has been on the military and as a result infrastructure is in terrible shape.
Big oil has all been driven out by state sponsored mafia.
Oil and gas production is dropping fast, reinvestment is nil.
Just like Chavez the Russians are begging the big oil, high tech crowd to return.
Never happen, not under Putin or Chavez.
The Chinese and the Indians are going to go right past the Russians and it's not going to take very long.
So I guess you cant really blame the Russians for trying to make themselves feel a little better by wishing ill on others.
