I wouldn't be smug. Canada is lucky. If Harper was PM at the time of the Iraq invasion, we would have been part of it. Posts on this forum show Canadians are just as easily fooled as Americans.
I agree.

Our politicians are starting to use some of the dirty tricks the ones to the south use and it seems to be working. I haven't seen any evidence which suggests we are somehow less prone to them. We have made many blunders but they are smaller and less significant only because we are smaller and less significant. When a bull is loose in the china shop people ignore the rabbit.

Not really, there was an actual reason to go into Afghnistan the question is; was it worth it?

I don't think it was.

Given that nearly two hundred thousand well equipped Russians got their hat handed to them....given that despite acknowledging that the poppy crop is used to fund warlords and provides a source for funding for terrorists....given that the resources of our great "friend" to the south are bogged down in a war in Iraq...that had nothing whatever to do with the Taliban and Al Qeada (those repsonsible for criminal acts against the United States) how much money blood and energy is it reasonable to continue to fight a war in Afghanistan that America abandoned? Now certainly there are American forces on the ground but if the notion that "Nations who harbor terrorists will be held accountable"...as the moron from Crawford yammered about...who then promptly sent the might of his nations military off in another fraudulent direction.... Why hasn't the great American military been able to find and bring Bin Ladin to justice? Why is it that we have this "committment" to NATO that sees our people dying and our domestic budget being spent on a war that America claimed was critical to stem the tide of "terrorism"?

It's simply another way of America funding its programs of militarism to evoke an agreement (NATO) as rationale for world support...while acting independently when it came to the U.N. role in Iraq and despite discounting the applicability of the Geneva Conventions when it came to Gitmo and and and and....

Canadians are sucking the teat of Americans and aren't prepared to call it a lie...when all the evidence collected clearly establishes that it is a lie and that America once again creates a mess it then claims as the "world's responsibility"....

Lies on top of lies.

I think I already stated that it wasn't worth it, just justified.
