Thats a good article gerryh!,good question toro...i don't agree with the war in iraq! saddam was a mass murderer of his own people! and there was wars america should have never been in! vietnam prime example...part of the problem is when other countrys are in war they call on their allie's...just imagine if canada was to be attacked..canada being an alli of america..bet your bottom dollar american military would be fighting by your side!!!! same go's for mexico..in a lot of occasions then america gets the brunt of the blame. yes america has a history of war! i don't deny that, but so does mexico, and other countrys...almost a 150 years before any european settlers came to the americas the mexicans were already here!!!! they killed native indians from mexico to the great planes kansas new york!!! taking land...i can admit americas wrongs, but you what every other race/people needs to fess up also...the world holds against the american people for what the american government does!!!

Sounds like a bunch of sore losers.

The treatment of the Lakota was bad...but I'm sure you lefties wouldn't want their type in your Starbucks either.

Funny how most of you think America would be as good or better without all of the things the military have done to keep your lattes hot and your free speech, free. It was certainly never a reporter or some Che t-shirt wearing activist who defended your rights.

Well, you reichsters weren't exactly thrilled when you lost in Vietnam, nor are you sounding too enthused about your lost cause in Iraq today. ;-)

...the world holds against the american people for what the american government does!!!

That's not true. 'The world' contains just as many people capable of seeing that the American people aren't the same thing as the American government, as I thought it held people who can see the difference between Canadians who bitch about Americans, and ALL of Canada or this forum.

One broad generalization is as unfair as the other in many peoples' eyes, even if it doesn't stop people you considered friends from splashing you with hateful rhetoric based on their disagreement with the few.

Well, here's one closed minded overly liberal Canadian who didn't think that Americans deserved ignorant generalizations based on the actions of a few, or a government. But apparently, that doesn't count for much. The squeaky wheels get us all greased, so to speak.

Gopher.. you an american?..if so then you would have known that in the vietnam war the american soldiers were drafted to war!!! they didnt join..you make it sound like every american soldier joined just to kill..and that all americans are as hitler!!!!...damn boy..think awhile..in this matter you got a choice..be tried in military court for draft dodging..or run to canada..or you could send our enemys medical supplies like the american college students in the vietnam war..how un-american is that..how trator is that..just like jane fonda..remember her?.visiting a prison camp in vietnam with american prisoners, the prisoners wrote their name on little pieces of paper and passed them to her so she could let their family's know they were still alive..AND WHAT DID SHE DO..GAVE THEM TO THE VIETCONG GENERAL THE ENEMY!!!! as aresult of this most of the men were killed...

When was the last time we didn't get royal assent on something? A figurative figurehead makes it possible to bash our prime minister without bashing the symbol of our sovereignty. Unfortunately, the president is the symbol of the United State's sovereignty, so one must be careful how one puts one's comments. I am going to go look up that royal assent question.
