The PASSIONATE AMERICA webmaster -- that "he stumbled onto the former page's AOL screen name when looking at transcripts of the instant messages on ABC's Web site on Saturday. He said he typed a slightly-different Web address into his browser and found a version of the transcript with the screen name.

The AOL name of the young man was kept unredacted and housed on ABCNEWS.COM servers for 5 days!

The information could be publicly accessed.

ABC explains in a statement: "On Friday, ABC News published instant messages between a former page and Congressman Foley with the IM screen name of the teenage victim redacted. Immediately, we discovered that in one instance, the screen name of the teen on one IM exchange had not been properly redacted. ABC News immediately took down the posting [version 1], redacted the screen name and re-published the posting [version 2]. We certainly believed that we had taken care of the issue quickly. Last evening, after an inquiry from Matt Drudge, it came to our attention that a blogger was able to access our deleted file [version 1] by typing in a slightly modified web address. To be clear, no one visiting our website would have simply stumbled on the old version."

SEX CHAT WAS WITH 18 YEAR OLD

On Tuesday ABC news released a high-impact instant message exchange between Foley and, as ABC explained, a young man "under the age of 18."

ABC headlined the story: "New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote"

But upon reviewing the records, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, the young man was in fact over the age of 18 at the time of the exchange.

A network source explains, messages with the young man and disgraced former Congressman Foley took place before and after the 18th birthday.

This sexual harassment issue of staffers is not new - and does not belong to one party as I wrote earlier.
There are sexual actors in both philosophies and something happens when they go to Washington - or to some State Capitol buildings. They get a taste of King or Queen .... and use it to their advantage.

Even going back over previous presidents themselves, the White House has been a veritable menagerie of women being secreted in after hours for sex. FDR had his lover for years....JFK had many....

I don't see the Republican Party as hiding behind a smokescreen - they delayed doing something about Foley - but once exposed he was gone and some are requesting the same of Hastert who enabled Foley to continue his nasty bit of work.

The alcoholism and purported molest as a kid is just after the fact crap....too little too late.

Smokescreen would be when you stand up after having taken an oath and swear "you didn't have sexual relations.... "

Clinton had consentual sex and lied about it. Big friggin deal. What does Bill Clinton have to do with Foley? The excuse for Foley's predatory activities is that Bill Clinton had an affair and lied about it?

Coulter Syndrome is at epidemic levels. People are smart enough to see through the rightwing smear brigade - aka the great dividers. None of them have the guts to show accountability without pointing at other children on the playground.

I thought the Tony Blankley piece in the Washington Times was a good step in defining how Republicans should deal with this crisis.

The Ann Coulter stuff reminds me of a 5 year old being scolded and responding by telling everyone that there are other kids causing bigger problems and wait and until you hear about them. It's a totally irresponsible approach to accepting any sort of accountability.

Elected officials from the major parties actually serving in government posts are spending way too much time.... fighting....

It is pre-election and everyone becomes either a pundit or gladiator, but I find it an oppressing time when the worst in humanity comes out and people work so very hard on damning the "other side" in order to impress the public.

The pundits become purveyors of pap and puke. Accusations fly so fast, nobody has time to check their veracity or honesty. And we think contact sports have become dangerous and ugly! They have nothing on the damage done during that month of hell before an election.

An honorable occupation being a politician - having the trust of people to give you a great job for which you get paid for life even after your are no longer voting on bills and measures - but it is a job in which your primary concern should be "for the good of the nation and its population"....

I see little of that going on here. The people also see ... and remember. There is nothing so pitiful as a failed politician.

Foley was one of the congressmen responsible for preventing this kind of thing. It's like putting Ted Stevens in charge of the internet.

I am so glad that up here in Canada our politicians are so much better. If we catch a politician messing with kids we make them the leader of the opposition. Bill Graham allegedly has a thing for underage prostitutes. There was an interview with a child prostitute in a Toronto gay magazine named "fab". This former child prostitute,Lawrence Metherel,says that he was Graham's boy toy for years. It seems everyone in the Liberals know about this,but turn a blind eye. Soon,Graham will be voting on the age of consent bill.In the past he has always voted against raising the age.In liberal circles that is rewarded,it's called voting your "conscience"

Much as I think Bill Graham is a scumbag I will not believe he has a thing for young prostitutes until there's evidence a stain on a blue dress perhaps?

It is well known that those who are violently against homosexual, are mostly frustrated homosexual themselves, who will never do their coming out,instead they will be the ones who are publicly seen as anti-homosexual, that is the case with peoples like in texas, peoples in the Army, people in the police etccc etccc,and then those crimes against teenagers are comitted by those same peoples .

Republicans/conservatives are probably the most homosexual party in the world, same for evangelical , but at the same time, they are violently aagianst them.

Lets look at the situation before us, yes there have been Democrat sex scandals in the past. That doesn't matter democrats scandals are supposed to be about sex, and Republican scandals should involve money, and theft. When they cross over and a Republican is involved in a sex scandal that is not forgivable.
It is starting to look like the Republicans, some high ranking ones knew about Foley as far back as 2003, and did nothing. Basically the Democrats didn't withold anything they just made a dirty little Republican secret very public. A dirty little secret the Republicans tried to cover up.
Not since watergate has the Republican Party been so damaged and to think the extreme right, didn't even know there were gays in the administration.
Oh what a joke this whole thing is and it looks good on these, people who believed things would be different. Bush couldn't be too happy Sunday morning poll results show he's at 33% even the born agains right is leaving him behind.

The answer could be he's not in jail because he never went to meet any of these people he was messaging with. If you watched Dateline's Predator sting, they only arrested those who went to meet the young girl not those who were just talking and never went further than that..
