Holy ol poop, friends; I just read most of the Jesus Camp thread, and the Clinton interview thread, and the Kalifornia thread. We can get heated yes?

This doesn't have a lot to do with American politics, but, does anyone on CC live in Arizona?? Or travel there?? And like it??

My understanding of the place is............

It's hot

It's dry

It's good for arthritis being hot and dry.

A lot of places there offer a relatively inexpensive cost of living.

One can pack a pistol.

Most folks are friendly there. One can pack a pistol.

Anybodyknow a bunch about the State, firsthand or second or third??

There is good fishing in some spots??? Guess that would be trout in mountain streams??

Lay the ol Arizona info on ol Ugg while he packs his suitcase, ok?

Ta:

Ugg.

I got a speeding ticket in Miami Arrizon, a canyon
just outside Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix.

I saw the little bubble light up on the tiny dot of a car
across the ridge and didn't think it was for me.

Navaho county holds a princess coronation in the
town Show Low, named after the card game with the
low card being the winning card. In town there
is sawdust on the floor of a very rowdy bar.

Above the Mogollon Rim, you got 70 degree cool
weather while Phoenix bakes at 115.

Largest contiguous pine forest in North America.

Thanks all.............so far:

I'm doing my own research on the net, and the info I'd really like is;

What's the chances of getting a chunk of land (small) way out back, with a "mobile home" on er, real cheap like, and settle down with the rattlers and coyotes etc.

Most of the cop shows I have seen show the inhabitants of said "way out back" to be mostly societal rejects doing meth labs etc. But, that's probably a gross generalization, and most likely the majority of folks are workin people making a modest living, doing the best they can.??? .

How's the huntin? Ken ya drop a deer when the freezer gets low?

No desert dwellers out thar??!!

Dang!

Lots of things to see and do in Arizona - but they are all listed on the tourist maps for you.

Uncle from Edmonton goes to Mesa (outside Scottsdale) for golf every year - big crowd of Canucks drinking down there.... don't know if they stop for golf once in a while haha....

Sedona is a mystical place to visit -but I don't know if you are into "mystical".

Grand Canyon is awesome - people even visit it during Christmas holidays...

Tucson big place - good for shopping.

Sorry I don't know much about it.... but you will be warm and cosy.

When you get bored you can always hit Nevada with its little gaming towns or the big one....Las Vegas.

If I was going to settle down I'd go to New Mexico instead of Arizona or Nevada....don't know why.... just would.

Also if you are gonna live in Arizona - invest in a good pair of boots...

I guess the balloon rides - and the chile varieties - and the outdoor festivals and celebrations - they have so many Indian Tribes there as
well as the Spanish and Metis.....

It isn't as "deserty"....as Arizona...at least the way I feel.... and it is
new and bustling and I have never met a native born New Mexican...

They seem to be coming from all the other states to make up a pretty
vibrant way of life....lots to see and do...

And did I mention the balloons?

Thanks Feronia;

That's a .45 by the way..........not a 45. Or was it like 45. as in 45 is the last word in the sentence, therefore followed by a . ?

I were figgerin on a 9mm. or a .44Mag.

Can ya buy assault rifles in Arizona?? Legally.

What kind of horse would be good?

Lot of decisions to be made.

Thanks Wed.

OK, forget Arizona, it's baloon ridin.

Dang. Decisions decisions.

They have bullfights there??

One can purchase a mobile home in Apache Junction in a 55+ gated community for a median cost of $20K US. That's cheap. Unless the mobile lot fees kill ya, it's not a bad deal. (in Arizona, not NM)

Thank you for the heads up. A .45 has less reverb than a .44. In my opinion. As for horses I have no clue but I am partial to Mustangs.

Hmmmm what do you call it? Kick? A .44 always ends up bruising my shoulder. It kicks back.

What are you doing with a pistol on your shoulder??

OK, you meant rifle, right? In that case, you could fool me as I was always a shotgun person. But a .12ga. will definately bruise your shoulder.

Ah, it's gettin too complicated.

I;m stayin put.

Ugg out.

No, I've shot a shot gun before a Winchester 30/30 but the pistol was really hard to keep my elbow straight. So when I shot the butt of the gun would hit my shoulder.

I've spent several weeks in Arizona. While I personally find the serenity and sheer beauty of the black hills of north dakota much more of a draw, Arizona is very charming.

Theres the grand canyon of course, with all the scentic wonders that it affords the rambler (that's walker in English English). It is indeed very hot, unbarerably so in places. If I were you, I would go to the border of Arizona and check out monument valley. As they are definatly worth a look.

Have a good time though, and take care to drink plenty.

Arizona: Eh, not my cup of tea personally, with a few exceptions. Too hot for my tastes.

Watch the armadillos when you drive, they create one hell of a mess.

S&W 4" .38 special or .357 Magnum K frame, 4 inch barrel.

Reasonably compact and light, good power, especially in .357 Magnum.

Load them with Speer Gold Dot 125 grain Jacketed Hollow Point, available in either .38 (+P fur sur) and .357.

Practise.

Edited to say:

AND you can get shot cartridges for them crawly varmits.

Dear god Nug....

Check the rules with the local law enforcement re carrying firearms....wouldn't do at all you spending your vacation in a jail!

Yup if you are into boots - they have em....and belts....and purses (for Mrs. Nug)....

Re mobile home/trailer - purchase is reasonable - but hookups and available space are probably pricey in the winter.

I have this image of you and Mrs. Nug line dancing in your new snakeskin boots...hee
