Professor Jones
is within his rights to question anything, and certainly within his right to question the happenings on 9/11. Maybe if the government had produced a full inquiry and publish the evidence and results, people like professor Jones wouldn't feel they had to speak out.

If it is due to promoting a theory I think that there is a serious issue.
People should be fully intitled to speak their conscience, and professors more then ever when not being criminal should be free from conjecture, especially by their employer.
The theories I have read hold some ground, and raise some very serious questions.

The university has every right to distance itself from his views, although I think that could better be achieved by means not so draconian as suspending him.
The guy must have tenure, so his job is safe, unless he gives cause for dismissal. Being deluded is NOT cause for dismissal in any university I ever heard of.
Now, to the root of the problem.........I am disturbed by the restrictions placed on freedom in the war on terror. We must be careful that we don't destroy the very things that make our society worth fighting for..........I don't give a damn if we and our allies kill every Taliban, every Hamas and Hezbollah man, every ally of Osama, in fact I fervently wish that were possible.
What I DO have a problem with is restrictions on movement, free speech, protection against forced witness, and our ancient right to be considered innocent, just to start.
We must maintain our freedom on our territory.
