(CNN) - The disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov and the sluggish economy have done President Barack Obama no favors, with a new poll showing just two in five Americans approve of his job performance.

According to the survey from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 41% of those polled approve of Obama’s job performance while 65% disapprove specifically of his handling of the economy.

Conducted October 30 through November 6, two days before the most recent job numbers were released, the poll shows that of the 2,003 individuals 18 and up interviewed by telephone, just 31% thought the President had done a good job in his handling of the economy.

Obama’s overall job approval rating represents a 14 point slide from where he stood last December, according to Pew. In the latest survey, 53% disapproved of Obama's handling of his job.

On health care, the survey indicates Americans are dissatisfied overall with Obama’s policies, 59% disapprove compared with the 37% who approve.

The approval rating is actually slightly higher than Obama’s Gallup numbers from earlier this week, which showed him nearing an all-time personal low at 39%. Those numbers have since ticked up slightly. Obama’s lowest Gallup approval rating came in 2011 when the number of Americans saying they approved of his job performance hit 38%.

Obama’s approval ratings are slightly higher than those of his most immediate predecessor at the same point, but they are much lower than two other presidents.

A year into his second term, Pew gauged President George W. Bush with a 36% job performance approval rating.

Former President Bill Clinton had a 58% job approval rating at this point in his second term. Americans under Ronald Reagan five years in said they approved of the Gipper’s job performance 62% of the time.

As everybody else knows President Obama awarded the Presidential Unit Citation on May 6, 2011 to the real heroes of the raid that killed OBL whose friends were at one time called the "moral equivalent of our Founding Fathers" by Reagan. Fact. ;)

It's not like he has to worry about his re-election prospects. I was hoping that the mere fact he DIDN'T have to worry about appealing to voters might allow him to take some essential action in RE-REGULATING Wall Street and financial markets, providing oversight on derivatives and currency manipulation and reverse the concentration of economic power into an ever smaller group of grotesquely rich speculators AND re-establish a protected industrial base, without which there is no chance of a return to prosperity.

Nothing of the sort has happened. The same people and influence peddlars are in control in the Obama Whitehouse as were in the GW Bush administration. That essentially ensures that 2008 collapse will be repeated as a series of ever more profound economic shocks that will inevitably bring down the Global Economy.

The Healthcare debate is a red herring. It essentially was a complete sellout to the private Health Insurance Lobby and is boondoggle that can never succeed in its intentions.

The real story here is that there has been NO CHANGE in the disastrous economic policies that have seen the de-industrialization of America.. a vast polarization of Wealth and destruction of the middle class... and the rise of financial power brokers as rulers of the economy.

Obama is just another massive disappointment. He might be smarter the GWB.. but most people are smarter than GWB... but he's been every bit as compromised and ineffectual and corrupted by campaign money. Another big mediocrity.. true of every other President of the last 45 years.. and a big FAILURE.
