Big money does talk eventually in that state. This just took a bit more cash and a lot more time to happen.

Things You'll Never See On The CBC

A Republican exonerated;
A Texas Court of Appeals has ruled the evidence against former House majority leader Tom DeLay was "legally insufficient" to sustain the conviction. A three-judge panel voted 2 to 1 to formally acquit DeLay on Thursday morning.

Decision here.

Not sure why you cite the CBC on this but a quick search of Conservative Canadian sites, Sun Media, Quebecor (QMI) , Canoe, CTV, didn't mention it either..........

But the decision doesn’t mean DeLay has emerged from his legal troubles.

Prosecutors in Austin quickly announced plans to appeal.

"We strongly agree that Tom DeLay is guilty," said Rosemary Lehmberg, the Travis County District Attorney. "There was a lot of work done by jurors. They sat in the box for three weeks and heard the evidence.

This is far from over. We’re going to petition the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to review this opinion."

This had nothing to do with cash. It had to do with a politically motivated prosecution, that went to trial in a very heavily Democratic controlled country.

There was absolutely no reason to ever bring the charges at all, other than to destroy De Lay politically.

The details are coming out.

The Judges over ruled the jury.................

Not so fast, Tom DeLay! -- Sure, a pair of Republican judges overturned his convictions -- but the D.A. isn't done with this case. Stay tuned

“We are concerned and disappointed that two judges substituted their assessment of the facts for that of 12 jurors who personally heard the testimony of over 40 witnesses over the course of several weeks and found that the evidence was sufficient and proved DeLay’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”

the majority’s decision seems to invoke some fairly impressive tortured logic in order to overturn the 12 jurors finding that DeLay committed these crimes beyond a reasonable doubt.

If that's the case why didn't his lawyers elect trial by judge alone? Is any court that convicts a Republican in Texas corrupt? One suspects that sympathy for Delay can be found in the dictionary between **** and syphilis.
