The U.S. unnecessarily paid $6.3 million on contracts for Afghan police vehicles from April 2011 to September 2012, according to a report released last week from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR). The latest gross overpayment stems largely from cash going to maintenance on vehicles that have been out of service for over a year or even had been destroyed.

As of November 2012, the U.S. has provided over 30,000 vehicles to the Afghan National Police (ANP), but the study shows a force still struggling with logistics and training needed to provide their own maintenance — forcing the U.S. to rely on outside contractors.

They are purchasing between 60-70 three axle specialized fire apparatus every month for a Yemeni contractor protecting the Iraqi oil pipelines. Those are replacements for the fire rigs destroyed in attacks which now occur regularly on Iraqi soil.

As I write there are 212 new US Abrams A-1a tanks stored after delivery to the US Army base at Herlong, CA. south of Susanville. The Army didn't request them and at present has no need for them Also there are 126 Magellan Mobile 155 artillery pieces stored at Ft Hood. Same situation but more of both are now being built. The US Navy is trying to replace 75 year old vessels and can't get those funded. Something is wrong with the entire federally supervised financial management system. And they continue to make more huge money handling errors.

Maybe they are stealth cop cars and you can't see them? Genuine "ghost cars".
