Reagan Warned Us About Obama

How Reagan summed up Obama in the first 5 minutes of a speech over 40 years ago.

"God Bless America", vote for a real leader, vote Romney..

Ronnie and Nancy used to use clairvoyance and fortunetellers before they made important decisions of state.

And Ron slept through the better part of his last term.

Wasn't Reagan the one who was losing his marbles and started the trend of making the rich richer and tossing the rest an occasional chicken wing?

I think he's the one who approved reducing taxes and raising spending. Though the Bushes and Obama happily followed in his footsteps.

Did you? I was talking about government debt, you were talking about expanding the wealth gap. Well, he did that too.

It amounts to the same thing. The rich get the gold mine and the rest of the public gets the shaft.
(My apologies to the late Jerry Reed for borrowing his stuff).

Ronny raygun was just a talking head that played second banana to a monkey in a third rate show. He never did grasp the fact that being pres was not a hollywood movie. Just read his lines.

I think this thread is the Chicken Wing and all the Libtrads that are swarming in desperation like the video below, knowing the White House will be given back to the Republicans in 9 days.

Leave aside for the moment that small government icon Ronald Reagan signed 17 debt ceiling increases into law. (That might explain why the Gipper repeatedly demanded Congress boost his borrowing authority and called the oceans of red ink he bequeathed to America his greatest regret.)

As it turns out, Republican majorities voted seven times to raise the debt ceiling under President Bush and the current GOP leadership team voted a combined 19 times to bump the debt limit $4 trillion during his tenure. (That vote tally included a "clean" debt ceiling increase in 2004, backed by 98 current House Republicans and 31 sitting GOP Senators.)

Of course, they had to. After all, the two unfunded wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the budget-busting Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 (the first war-time tax cut in modern U.S. history) and the Medicare prescription drug program drained the U.S. Treasury. Mitch McConnell, John Boehner and Eric Cantor voted for all of it.

Again, in words and pictures, the New York Times tells the tale:

Watch Ronald Reagan in 1985 make the case for the 'Buffett Rule'...Of course he didn't follow through on it.........

Ronnie is largely responsible for the mess that America is in. He started the deregulation
and the way out for American business to ship everything to China. Someone should have
warned the American public about Reagan, and W Bush now there's a stellar fool.
Obama took over a mess and in the grand scheme of things he has started putting the pieces
back together again.
The American people will get what they deserve if they give the country back to the greedy and
those without conscience and that is what will happen if they vote Romney. Romney is one thing
the idiots like Ryan are even worse.

You are correct, but not while in office.

Reagan had early stages of Alzheimers while in office, but people like to skip over that.

If it makes you sleep better at night, hey, go for it. Far better to have a President who is lacking the mental capacity to run the country, than to have a guy who gets a bj at work.

Priorities, man, get your priorities straight!

What's even funnier is to see the right wing people actually worship a guy who was a union president. Isn't that a bad thing? Aren't unions all evil?

From the family members that I've dealt with, the earlier stages of dementia are the toughest, because you're aware enough to understand that the brain isn't working like it should. Once you're into the late stages, you don't even know you have it, so it's not as tough.

Reading my grandmother's journal was heartbreaking - she wrote about trying to talk to people, and knowing who they were, but she couldn't get her brain to say the things she wanted to say.

It's a very sad disease for sure, as a single case has so many victims. From what I can gather some progress is being made. Apparently if diagnosed early, the progress can be delayed.

Yeah, that's the standard right wing line, but the truth is the USSR collapsed under its own weight of corruption and inefficiency. Reagan's belligerence probably prolonged the Cold War by giving credibility to the paranoia of the Soviet military-industrial complex. He didn't win the Cold War so much as the USSR quit playing.

Truman certainly had balls unlike the eunuch currently in office.

Much of it caused by trying to keep up with the re-arming of the US under Reagan. Had Reagan not re-armed, the USSR would still be with us.
