Where's Al Gore?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In 2008, Al Gore strode onto the stage at Denver’s Invesco Field to a hero's welcome, throwing his support behind Barack Obama to take on the "global climate crisis."
When Obama takes the stage this week, Gore will be nowhere in sight.

(PHOTOS: Scenes from the DNC)
He isn’t coming to the Democratic National Convention but is spending the week in New York City, anchoring coverage of the event for his network Current TV.
Gore's evolution over the past four years — from a central figure in the Democratic Party to a no-show at its biggest event — matches what has happened to the issue of climate change itself, which moved to the sidelines alongside its chief crusader, environmentalists and some Democrats say.
(Also on POLITICO: Rich tradition of awkward candidates)
It’s not like Gore hasn’t noticed — and his frustration with Obama has been on display. He’s leveled criticism at Obama for abandoning the push for a climate change bill. He accused him of failing to use the bully pulpit to spread the word about the dangers of rising global temperatures. And he faulted Obama for putting off tough new smog regulations.
On the other hand, Gore has also offered some defense of Obama’s record and says that “I would fear for the future of our environmental policy” if Mitt Romney wins the election.

He's probably traveling across the world talking about global warming, and that we should stop driving cars, while he uses something that pollutes more to carry his a$$ around.

Oddly, the GOP didn't invite the lst GOP President or Vice President to their convention......................

**** Cheney on why he’s skipping the GOP convention next month and headed to Canada instead. “I’ve done a lot of conventions over the years, but this is a special trip I’ve been planning on for a long time,” he told “Good Morning America.” Former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush won’t be in Tampa, either.

He's got a fortune invested in Carbon Credits through his hedge fund .. which have languished on improvised markets developed to trade them.. as AGW has gone into widespread disrepute and skepticism.. and nations have pulled out of Kyoto.

He's probably in a funk about his inability to sustain widespread panic.. which would certainly help his financial situation. But the simple reality is.. none of his hysterical preditions have been realized. He's left with a glaring contradiction.. and a public perception that he is either a fool or a fraud.

I guess the DNC just didn't think he'd add much to their cause.

Its simple some people move on until something else brings them back to the political scene
and sometimes they never return. I wouldn't read too much into either groups not having the
former leadership there.
Back in the 1990's I was involved in politics and even became a candidate in one election.
I haven't been to a political event since. No I didn't win but that is not the reason I didn't stick
to the grind. Other things came into the picture and over time I developed other interests.
Gordon Wilson was once at the forefront of politics in BC but he has other interests now and
feels there is little time for politics.
Gore is in the environmental religion now and politics confuses the issue, especially when the
reality that environmental decisions and political decisions are in two different worlds. I wouldn't
read too much into it at all. Nor would I read much into the Bush family not being front and center.
If it were the case that Gore was not happy with the environmental agenda he would use it during
the convention window to draw attention to it.
The Bush family will be front and center 8 years from now when Jebb makes his run. Bush Sr.
and Bush Jr know they don't want to be associated with this crowd of Republican misfits.
I think the real truth is that they have nothing to gain spending their political assets on either of these
campaigns.

GOre is counting the billions he scammed from the gullible with his carbon credits. Or possibly hiding from the ones that figured out the scam.

Could have swore I seen him at a Walmart in Edmonton, he had a 55 ft deisel coach in the parking lot, parked right beside David Susuki's 62 ft coach.

Al has new lady now and is touring to tell all just how bad the ecological balances are out of whack. He could get to much right so he just left quietly. If things get bad Barney Frank told Al he has work for him.

From the Thread Title, I assumed I'd find a picture where I'd have to
spot Al Gore, like the Where's Waldo things from days gone by.

Most Hedge Funds.. which is Gore's investment vehicle.. operate with highly leveraged investments.. tapping futures markets.. both which supercharge both profits and losses. Things can turn quickly in this format.. i'm not sure he's doing as well as people seem to think he is. If he's mortgaged his future to the invevitability of universal acceptance of Carbon Credits.. he might not be doing well at all.
