Not Area 51 per se, but I do understand that cell 51 in Gitmo has a few stories to tell.

In the Bamsters defence: Financing multiple wars is an expensive game, even for a Nobel Peace Prize winner like Obama.

'Peace through superior fire-power' seems to resonate with the Nobel Awards Committee.

I don't like to degrade people by having them reveal their ignorance or dishonesty, so I'd probably limit myself to idle chit chat about the weather.

Mind you with G W Bush I wouldn't even discuss that so as to avoid embarrasing him with his grammar.

The answer to that may be "I have full intentions of keeping them all over an 8 year period".

Fact check time: The total public debt outstanding on January 20, 2009 (Obama's inauguration day) was $10.6 trillion.

On January 20, 2012, it was $15.2 trillion. That's an increase of $4.6 trillion. You can easily find that out on the website of the U.S. Treasury.

Debt to the Penny (Daily History Search Application)

In addition to you doing some liberal rounding up to "[f]ive trillion[]", Obama isn't responsible for all of that $4.6 trillion increase. Before Obama took office (specifically, in January 2009, when CBO released its monthly report on the budget), the gross federal debt was projected to rise to $13.4 trillion in 2012. Source: page 19 of http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9...07-Outlook.pdf

That leaves an increase of $1.8 trillion in the national debt that Obama is actually responsible for.

Of course, all objective observers already knew that Obama was responsible for $1 trillion to $2 trillion in increased debt, but sometimes it has to be explained to Obama critics that it's not higher.

Obama still has one year to go and by all accounts, it will be a very rocky road for Americans. Considering the poor (overall) economy and the legislation that he is proposing (on a number of fronts), expect his numbers to eclipse the projections and the effects to be felt for many generations.

As far as former President George W. Bush being blamed for a "[$]4 trillion[]" rise in the national debt in eight years, the total public debt outstanding on January 22, 2001 (two days after Bush's inauguration) was $5.7 trillion. The same figure for January 20, 2009, as previously mentioned, was $10.6 trillion, an increase of $4.9 trillion.

In the monthly CBO report on the budget for January 2001, the gross federal debt was projected to have a year-over-year decrease for the first time in decades beginning in 2001 and continue a year-over-year decrease until 2006. Of course, that didn't happen.

Much of that difference (in my opinion) is explained by "who" is issuing the reports and what kind of accounting games are being played.

Each successive gvt will bind the nation to certain debt obligations (or actions like wars). The Bush admin has played their accounting games and the Obama admin will do the same.
