What was published is understood. Some of the things he was working on but never published were pure sci-fi, and people were never sure if he was joking or really was capable of those things.

His famous broadcast power is finally off the ground, his WWII military research is still under US government Impound.

But people aren't sure if his "Death Ray" Tower Network for US coastal defence was feasible or not. I mean, he SEEMED to have lost it..but the guy pulled amazing stuff out his "hat".

Unf, what are you building an aircraft carrier? I'm not much of a marine expert but I do have a solid background in electrical engineering technology. Check out his notes on marine development...you might find something there. Tesla may seem like a mythological wizard to some but his work makes a lot of sense to anyone who is in the industry.

The new Tesla car...didn't know the darned thing existed until it was mentioned on here. Surprised the oil barons haven't put a stop to that deal. So they trump out 100 year old technology and call it a novel idea. I'm sure if the system works in a car it can be adapted to a boat.

I'll consult my mediums and get back to you....*snicker*....

A penny a mile to run it?!- I wish I had 98K lying around- I wonder about heating though and how it would run in the winter? If the came out with a delivery vehicle (pick up /cube van) you could take a huge number of polluting deisels off the road, even if it used 5 to 10 times the energy it would still be Great, I don't why any company wouldn't want it.

Tesla was in his own words an enigma. We would not have poly phase power, 3 phase without him. He was brilliant in invention and an utter idiot when it came to protecting his patents. He stood at one point to be the richest man in the world, but died penniless. Being that he was from Yugoslavia the establishment in the western world seemed to do there best to bury him, in particular Edison. Even a 1930's superman cartoon has a tesla like mad scientist using a large tesla coil death ray. Even to this day there is a continuing force against tesla and his work. Aside from this there is a growing cult like reverence for the man which seems to grow every year. Some of which is beginning to grow into more myth then fact. His achievements are recognized by the engineering fields that he impacted but aside from that he will continue to be a mere myth to the world.

Cool site http://www.pbs.org/tesla/ well worth the time.
