... as he went on to win the World Figure Skating Championship in Russia. Way to go, Patrick! :canada:

He broke the record for most points in the short program, the long skate and his combined numbers set a record for most points in a World Championship.... and he landed two quads cleanly - no one else came close to doing that. He's the man!

The highest score in a figure skating short program (men) is 93.02, and was achieved by Patrick Chan (Canada) at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow, Russia on 27 April 2011.

Highest score in figure skating – long program (men):

The highest total score in a figure skating competition (men) is 280.98, and was achieved by Patrick Chan (Canada) at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow, Russia on 28 April 2011. The total score consists of the combined marks for the short program and long program.

Patrick crushed all previous records for both the short and long programs, and the combined score at the same time. This earned Patrick a mention in the Guinness Book of Records. Pat is currently the Canadian Mens Figure Skating Champion, becoming so at the age of 17 making him the youngest ever to achieve the title.

Congratulations, Patrick. You are wonderful Champion and a hope for future generations of Canadian figure skaters. Well done, young man. Thank you. :canada:
