Not very original on my part here.... Tennis, Football, Soccer, Figure Skating, Horse Racing, Golf and Beach Volleyball.

Where I live there are no big professional sports teams but I enjoy sports on television and watch as many sports locally as we get here on occasion. Also I enjoy the Cyclists both in California which has a passing route through my area in California, and the Tour de France on TV.

I'm more into individual or team co-operative activities like cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, and swimming mostly.

However, when it comes to competitive sports, I play soccer now and then, and hockey even more rarely but sometimes.

Strangely enough though, though I enjoy participating in the activities above, I find watching professional or high-profile sports events on TV to be quite boring. I'd rather be doing it than watching it.

I like rugby, cricket, fishing, and climbing/hiking/snowshoeing. Wife likes football (real football with the round ball that people actually use their feet on), running, swimming, and climbing/hiking/snowshoeing.

I'm pretty conventional. Knothead with some Westerner tossed in.

Love my hockey (edit: especially the World Juniors each Christmas/New years... best hockey there is) and football (CFL and NFL, not really into college ball but will watch if I'm bored). Like my curling, especially when Alberta is knocking around someone like Russ Howard. When the Olympics come around I watch the stuff out at the ski hills thats timed (don't like any of the judged sports, really). Off the tube I like my outdoors stuff: hiking, skiiing, fishing. Used to hunt but while I love the taste of wild game, I'm a sucky shot and I prefer to pack a camera instead of a rifle.

ever been on a 'real' hike Anna? Usually takes all day,
and consists of at least 20 miles or more.
Some do it 'all' the time, it is a sport, puts one in
top condition.

My first job during the summers while in high school and after high school on a full time basis....

....was teaching many sports in community centers. It's great to have more time
than schools ever do unless they are working with a school team for competition...
but regular kids do well once they "get it" and often the schools don't have time to find out what kid does what well.....

I can't participate in many sports now - or my time is limited because of a lung problem, but I'm still an avid fan and prefer live events, but am grateful for the television coverage especially on weekends in places I will never see....and athletes
I will never be able to cheer for in person.

I wish humans could settle things with competitive sports....

Football ("sacker"), cricket, rugby, snooker and darts.

I did watch some of the Superbowl a few weeks ago and I had no idea what was going on. It was completely alien to me. And it was so slow.

It's a game. Not all games are sports and not all sports are games. They also put news on sports channels, is news a sport, too? Is checkers a sport? Tiddlywinks? Hopscotch? Monopoly? Gomoku?

I think it's a recreation, not a sport. My longest hike so far has been from Golden Ears park through Manning park to Cathedral park. It took a couple weeks. Sometimes we go on long-weekend hikes (2 or 3 days) and that hiking includes rock climbing and stuff. I run 6 miles 3 or 4 times a week. We also snowshoe in the winter.

I hope it's only temporary and a short-termed temporary at that.

Or even a game of chess or something. Boxing, if one feels violent.
