BC Lions President and CEO died of a heart attack today at age 69.
Ackles started as waterboy for the team in the 50's. He eventually became GM before leaving for the NFL and holding executive positions in Dallas, Pheonix, Philadelphia and Miami. He worked in player development with the Cowboys when they won Super Bowls in the 90's. in 2002 he returned to the Lions as President and CEO.
The BC Lions organization lost their heart and soul today. He was a great guy. What a terrible loss for his family and the team.
