The draw was made for Euro2008 today and Group C is the "Group of Death" with three big guns - France, World Champions Italy, and Holland - drawn together. Group B also looks quite interesting.

Switzerland and Turkey have been drawn together in Group A. During the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, fierce violence erupted in the game between Switzerland and Turkey, and Turkey were subsequently thrown out of the qualifiers. Now is there chance to take revenge against the Swiss.

Euro2008 takes places between 7th and 29th June, the winners, obviously, being declared European Champions. The current European Champions are Greece. There are 16 teams in four groups of four teams. Each team plays each other once with the top two teams qualifying for the Quarter Finals. Germany are the favourites to win the tournament although they haven't done well in the latter stages of the European Championships since they won Euro96.

The opening match will be Switzerland VS Czech Republic on 7th June.

World Cup finalists Italy and France will vie with Holland for a place in the Euro 2008 quarter-finals after being drawn in the same group for next summer's competition.

This morning's draw in Lucerne saw the Dutch chosen as the top seeds in Group C, and they were soon joined in the pool by France, Romania and world champions Italy.

We can only watch: England failed to qualify for Euro2008 after 3-2 defeat against Croatia. It was the first time England failed to qualify for a major tournament since they failed to qualify for the USA'94 World Cup

Group B saw co-hosts Austria pitted against neighbours Germany and Poland, with England's conquerors Croatia the fourth team in the pool.

Portugal and the Czech Republic will be favourites to progress from Group A, in which Switzerland, hosting the finals with the Austrians, are the top seeds. Turkey complete the quartet.

Reigning champions Greece face a tough task to make it through to the knockout stages after being drawn alongside Spain, Sweden and Russia - who also qualified ahead of England - in Group D.

None of the Home Nations made it through to the finals. It will be the first European Championships since Euro'84 that no British team - England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland - will be there.
