marygaspe- This is not a religious thread so you shouldn't get all bent out of shape for that reason alone.

selfactivated- Yes, I have been close to death and I may even have had a near death experience. But since then I have not been carried away with religious imaginings about what happened to me. I hve found quite satisfactory explanations in science. If you have any interest in expanding your mind and learning something then perhaps I can help you out. As for Cdnbear, I have no doubt in the least that what he describes is a figment of his imagination, it was trance induced, or he was using psychedelic drugs. I know of no other explantions other than near death experiences which are fabricated in our brains.

I have many close friends who are native indians and spent a lot of time with our B.C. coastal indians while paddling with them in their war canoe races. To suggest that I am racist is simply ridiculous and is nothing more than the continuation of the fight he decided to pick with me. Would you like to hear about some supernatural experiences I have witnessed with our native indians? All very easily explanable from a point of view of science. If not pure hoaxs to begin with!

I thought we came to an understanding. Apparently not. We've had enough of members trashing each other's faiths here, and most of the involved parties have found a way to resolve their differences by agreeing to stop attacking each other's beliefs. If you'd like to start a legitimate thread to discuss your own views on spirituality, please do so. Other than that, please eave these people to their discussion if you can't participate without inciting them.

El barto- You don't seem to understand, it didn't happen to your friend at all. Under the circumstances his brain convinced him that it happened. Science tells us this and your evidence for it happening is much less substantial. In fact you are taking the word of someone who only thinks he/she experienced what you relate. Don't be in such a hurry to accept fairy tales.

canadarocks- Some things get on your nerves and other things get on my nerves. Specifically, what gets on my nerves is the amound of damage religion and the belief in sky fairies is doing to our world. A good example would be the catholic missionaries in Africa who tell innocent people that the use of condoms is wrong as millions die with Aids and millions of children die of malnutrition because the catholic church forbids them to use birth control methods to prevent having a dozen children. Maybe what gets on my nerves is more of a legitimate complaint than what gets on your nerves on this forum. Think about it for a while before you attempt to have contrary opinions to your own censored.

Elbarto- Well there ya go, you attack other faiths while I attack those who believe in sky fairies period.

CdnBear- You should have thought of that when you chose to mock me when I mistakenly posted the line which appears in this place before a post. You didn't and now you are getting a little of your own medicine back. In addition to some of the other insults you have chosen to throw in my direction. Let me know when you think it's time to stop your childish nonsense!
So it's true. We're really are here to just eat, sex and procreate.

Who's idea was it?

O.K. Zan, I am finished saying what I had to say. I will leave this thread now but I invite those who have an interest in learning something worthwhile to keep in mind that there is much to talk about. As to my problem with CdnBear, I think I have made that quite clear now.

You missed her point, obviously. You're just being rude. Yes, yes, yes, as a Catholic I have to contend with your type all the time. I have a solution, mind your own business and don't go to Mass with me. There's no need to drop in to attack.

You do come off harsh to say the least. But even Dex and Gilbert have respect for my beliefs for they are MY beliefs. Be my guest to start a thread about the Hoxes of religions but out of respect can you please allow us a small space to talk about our beliefs?

The vision quests of the type you described have a near universal history, there are many similar methods of meditation and experiance of the way or the one or the spirits. Sceptics abound but history prevails. I have started reading The six Worlds of the MicMac thier oral traditional power storys are facinating. What is hard to do though is to try and make yourself think like a MicMac of ten thousand years ago, or any of the ancients for that matter, when you remove all the cultural litter that we've all picked up from the here and now and try to think like an ancient with totally alien processes, it very quickly makes you understand how difficult it is to judge the experiances of the past or of past cultures with todays perspective. Certainly the mind is a complex thing and many old shamans new how to use it and how to teach with its power. My own experiance is fleeting and difficult to maintain because I'm lazy and soft but the power plants help with that, the world is not what we commonly believe it to be, most of what we percieve in learned and not necessarily real, even hardcore physics admits that. So for those in a hurry to discount spirts and power objects, don't be to hasty your own ancestors had different ideas.

Look hunny, I didn't attack your faith for starters and you started this whole shyte fest in the Israeli thread, with your silly insinuations and shy shots. I don't hide my words or my attacks, I'm no coward and I'm not one to shy from a fight, you have bitten off more then you can chew and have poked the wrong Bear. This childishness that you see, was brought on by you, and you have contributed to it with flying colours. Well that was an over statement, you have tried to no avail.

But I've been asked by a Mod not to go after you and as I respect her greatly I will do as she asked. She knows what I am capable of, you do not.

But I feel the need and though I probably shouldn't, I just can't fight it...

You have been unable to refute anything I have posted or answer any questions I have asked, so because you can not compete with me in the other forums, you took the shallow and cowardly ruit, the path of least moral resistance. It has back fired and you have been exposed as a bigot, "expsr". Even many of my detractors, will see you differently now. Though they may not agree with my politics, they see through the cowardice it takes to denegrate someones faith(though I have marched against the Christian faith, I have done so for personal reasons, not out a petty spat) out of nothing more then a petty inablity to put up a challenge in the political forums.

Hey Bear sorry to be that snow ball that rolls down hill. Never thought one question would go so far,
My brother I have faced men, who's hearts were filled with hate and their only wish was to kill me and my fellow Peacekeepers. This person is no more then a flea on my hide.

You continue as you were, I have broad shoulders and a strong back, lean on me.

More tripe, got anything with some substance.

I always love how people who come off racist, suddenly develop Native, Black or whatever friends or have some of them in their family pool.

You have no other reason for being in this thread, other then pissing in my boot. And you still have the deluded gull to call me childish. Oh brother!!!
