The gloating head of the Catholic League on Monday ripped into the “victims’ lobby” he says is out to “rape” the Catholic Church over the issue of child sex abuse.

Markey’s bill would have extended the timeframe in which a victim could bring a case by five years, opened a six-month window to revive old cases, and treated public and private institutions the same when it comes to child sex abuse cases.

The 2016 session ended 5 a.m. Saturday without a vote.

“If the statute of limitations were lifted on offenses involving the sexual abuse of minors, the only winners would be greedy and bigoted lawyers out to line their pockets in a rash of settlements,” Donohue railed. “The big losers would be the poor, about whom the attorneys and activists care little: When money is funneled from parishioners to lawyers, services to the needy suffer. “

The ferocity of his statements, particularly his contention that advocates were out to “rape” the Church shocked sex abuse survivors and even had the group representing Timothy Cardinal Dolan and the state’s Catholic bishops distancing itself from Donohue.

Since the effects are lifelong that is how long the time should be granted. As long as the victim is alive that works for me since some claims for 'a claim' sometimes involves relatives and they should be barred from making any claims, that goes for war crimes also.

Sounds like the Vatican is thinking of setting up day-cares and orphanages.

The Flock is made up of fine people, too fine, as they refuse to ho;d the Clergy up to the same standards imposed on them.

So he doesn't want the victims to do to the church what the preachers did to the kids. I guess he doesn't like the second half of the "do unto others" thingy.

the involvement of government and the community is also disturbing

Me, I'm hoping for a complete currency collapse, then reality will take care of itself

In a November 18, 2009, Politics Daily column about Smith's research, David Gibson reported that sexual identity should be "separated from the problem of sexual abuse," according to criminologist Margaret Smith. Smith said, "we do not find a connection between homosexual identity and an increased likelihood of sexual abuse."[61] Nevertheless, Donohue says that this is a homosexual problem in the Catholic Church and not a pedophile one.[62]

They say thats also what did Nixon in: the cover up, not the crime

Thats why we have earthly justice
hopefully It gets applied, though often enough, it doesn't

What matters is the Clergy is intent on covering it up as much as possible rather than looking for the root cause and fixing that. The Bible doesn't promote a male only Clergy, perhaps they should start there and put a Nun and Priest together when dealing with any member of the Flock.

The Governments of Canada and the US are just as guilty as the Clergy in molesting the Flock.
